993 Brakes and Tail Lights Before After
Another brake before and after. I am fixing up a 1996 Targa with 29,500 miles and I am the third owner. Pictures are before and after. I stripped the clear coat with paint remover. Then wet sanded, cleaned with mineral spirits, and painted with black high temp 500 degree paint. Wet sanded again, applied the stickers, and clear coated with 1000 high temp brake caliper clear with three coats sanding in between. I think they look great!
This weekend I am wet sanding the rear tail lights.

Thanks
Thanks Goofball. I used a water based paint remover I got at the auto parts store. It is made by Aircraft I think. It stripped the clear but did nothing to the base coat. It even removed that brown cosmoline that sometimes splatters on other parts.

Paint
The Black Paint was what you can get from Suncoast or any auto parts store. Suncoast also includes a set of stickers in one of three colors with the can of paint for $25!!

Looks great. Where did you source the stickers?
Edit: i see where you got the stickers.
I did similar job, but cheated. I scraped clear coat carefully, washed and applied clear coat only. I was pretty happy with results and it didn't require taking calipers off. The key was not to scrape the porsche lettering off.

Tail Light Work
OK I wet sanded with 1000 grit and then painted with Dupli Color Clear. Three coats and wet sanded between coats with 1500 grit before final coat. The sides look great (sorry about the poor picture quality) but the center section is not much better than before. My paint guy says the 993 center section is a tough one to restore. At any rate, this will have to do! Looks better than before.

NEW
So new at Suncoast not horribly bad. Is it worth it given I have a 30,000 mile Blue Targa with all original paint and no body work? What do others think? New sure looks a lot better

Since you'll have a spare, try what I did. Carefully separate rear lens from housing. I used blk pin stripe paint and laid it into the "Porsche" lettering. The molded lettering is pretty easy to get the paint into, with a good brush and very steady hand. The hardest part is releasing the tiny plastic tabs w/o breaking them off.

Some great weekend project, guys! I am in bad need to do this on my big reds - what's the best place to source the original red paint and stickers? The clear coat is beginning to flake and is bothering me...
Love what you did, Overboosted! Will definitely attempt this over the summer!
