Default Considering change to yellow calipers...

Wondering the boards thoughts on changing caliper color.

Guards Red C4S, currently with red calipers, clear coating flaking off a little bit. Re-finishing the calipers will allow the chance to change to yellow. Always like the turbo "s" look but the car is completely original and wonder if it will clash too much.

Would like to know what you guys think.

Thanks.

What color and/or model are your wheels? That'd be important for me to make the decision. Yellow would clash on the red IMO. Gold maybe?

It is a personal choice. How about pulling some pics off the internet to see how yellow looks with red. I think it looks very nice although there is something to be said about keeping it original.

So I'm assuming silver wheels? Yellow wouldnt be my first choice, but it is very subjective. Please keep us updated as to what you decide.

I am a "purist" and like original, however, having Gurards Red, the yellow may look great!

Fixing your flaking calipers is super easy. Get a can of HIGH TEMP (and I mean HIGH TEMP, not some 500º crap) clear coat spray from your local auto parts store. Then scrape the flaking clear coat, clean the calipers well, mask around them and spray two coats of the clear coat. They'll look (almost) as good as new.

Do what makes you happy. Personally, black for small calipers, red for big, yellow for PCCB or 993 turbo s. I have a brand new GTI that came with red calipers and Im going to paint those black. when I see small calipers painted red it just looks to me like someone wants people to think they had big brakes.

When I had my 95 993, I wanted red calipers so I put on big reds. Anyway, at the end of the day, they can always go back to red in the future if you want. I also want to agree with ilko that all it takes to correct the flaking clear is a good cleaning and some clear coat sprayed on.

Very nice! I actually consider "going yellow" on my own big reds, but not sure which color code I should specify for the paint shop. Does anyone know?
