Default What a Dummy

I was looking for an email and ran across a Craigslist ad from Oct 2010 for a 1974 911 for $9750. It was a decent driver. Agghhh!

If it's any consolation, I passed on a completely stock '96 TT, Guards Red/Black, 42k miles for $56,000 in 2005 ... grrrrrrr ... hindsight is always 20/20!! Have kicked myself weekly ever since ...

Yeah, I could have bought a matching numbers 260 cu. in. Sunbeam Tiger for $8K a few years ago but passed on it because it was "Too much." I saw where a "survivor" sold the other day for $42K+...

'74 was not one of the marques better years IMHO.
Consider that pass a blessing.

That was the market then and to me that is still what that car is worth. They were the 996's of the 70's, don't feel bad.

Actually aren't 74 to 77 considered the worst years for 911 (possibly followed by 99 to 01)?
I think the value of those early impact bumper cars are over inflated.

OMG,..you are wrong about that.

The '75-'76-'77 models were the years that had major issues due to smog equipment (created more heat), but the '74 cars were as light as the 73's, no smog equipment and were very good (aside from airbox issues).

Sold my 356 convertible for $35K years ago, and thought, "Wow, did I get a great price for that old bucket of bolts....".

That car now sells for six-figures.

'73S in decent enough shape for $20K in 2001.

RS America that I couldn't hardly give away for $22K in '11. (2010-11 State Of The Market discussion all over the ad I placed here: https://rennlist.com/forums/for-sale...-1-6-11-a.html)

I had blocked these from my past but seeing as you've all brought it back.....,

In 2001 I looked at a '72 RS, around prod number 300.....price £30,000 sterling.

In 2006 it was a 964 RS for around £27,000 sterling

In 2011 it was a 993 TT for $75,000 Canadian, tax in. (Ominous history though)

In 2014 I finally bought my first Porsche, a 993.

I missed many boats but finally I left shore.

Now please go away and let me forget it all again.

Cheers
