Default 993 cab valuations?

Hello first I'll start with an apology as I'm sure this topic is done to death. But you guys over here on the 993 forum know more than I do. I Thoroughly enjoy my 993 TT and with their appreciation over the years I've mostly been driving it for free; although I don't think I will ever sell it.
I'm looking to add a 993 cab and I found one for sale locally. Pretty well sorted, 47k miles, clean car fax, no accidents but a fender painted. It is a tip tho. Silver with black interior. All original with no mods whatsoever. Selling for 38k.
Does that seem fair to you gentlemen?
Not too thrilled about the tiptonic but at least the wife can drive it then. That's part of my rationalization. It is in quite excellent shape with low miles. Oh and it's a 95 so no varioram I believe, right?

Thanks in advance

Joe

Low mileage and nice color combo, but tip, and some will say cab, can lower the value some. Seems fairly priced for the miles, but get a PPI to know more about what you're getting into.

Stick to your dreams! Here's a manual coupe with 105,000 for the same price. No affiliation. Good luck with your search! https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/cto/4867435328.html

Love my cab but have to admit that they do not command the same resale value as coupes. Tiptronic is just horrible for value. Most of the 993s on the market are tips for a reason. Everyone is keeping their manuals. Good luck!

If the ask is $38k, should be able to buy for $34-35; and if all checks out then the price is reflective of a cab/tip configuration. Good color combo too. There seems to be a small "cruiser" market for the cab/tip combo. Older folks, wife's of Porsche owners like you and city folk who need the tip. Low mileage, all stock any 993's are becoming harder to find.

The Tip will definitely decrease valuation, whether coupe or cab. The discussion around cab vs. coupes on pricing has been done to death. In today's market, there is no difference in price valuation between them, there are just different buyers. As always, price comes down to condition, mileage, options, service history, etc - body style will determine buyer, not value. When the cars were new, the cabs were more expensive than the coupes, so the cabs haven't held their value as well relative to original selling price, but today, there's really no difference.
I think 35k range is about right given the Tippy.

Love the cab/tip combo. Wife can drive home after a good party. Truthfully though I enjoy the ease of stepping on the gas on a 20 degree hill and just climbing. And yes as I have gotten older I stepped away from the manual with no regrets. The value is in what the experience is worth too you. I paid $47 for my mint '95 with 15 thousand miles and couldn't be happier. $38 sounds fair for your car.

Thanks, I think I'll pass or try to get him down a few thousand.

Its this 993 tip cab or an 06' 997 cab. Not surprising they are about the same money.
Last question.....since i like the "drive it for free deal" I enjoy with my 993TT.... I believe the 993 will stay at this valuation or actually appreciate (albeit not as much as a manual) whereas the 997 will continue to drop (look at 996 cab prices lately?...yow...shameful)

......agree?

Interesting responses, I asked the same question a few weeks back after finding a couple possibilities for my wife and the general consensus from this board was that $42K (asking for both) was fair and what to expect for a Tip Cab.

I have to agree with the consensus. When I bought my 993 five years ago I found tips and cabs were discounted...and available.

Personally I wouldn't have a tip or a cab....and one with both.....??

Hi Laurent,

The consensus here appears to be that $38,000 was a fair asking price for a silver/black Tip Cab. I looked back at your thread. https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...3-cab-tip.html $42k does indeed sound fair for the 50,000 mile tip that you posted. Silver/black is nice, but the midnight blue with cashmere beige/black interior is worth the extra few grand IMO. I'm a sucker for blue. I hope you bought the car, it's beautiful! Or did you switch for the aventurine green? Another great color (but not so much the gray interior). Cheers!

Maybe that's the case in your locale. There's no data to support your opinion.

Agree. What the 993 market was doing 5 years ago is completely irrelevant. Hell, what the 993 market was doing 1 year ago is almost irrelevant.

In fact, a quick search on Auto Trader will show you that the low end for available Coupes is $29,500 ('95 w/ 100k+) and the low end for Cabs is $37,500 ('96 w/100k+). This is only one website and a snapshot in time of course, but it does indicate that there's little evidence of pricing difference between C2 body styles.

Just got the latest Excellence magazine with the market update for 964&993

The put the 95-97 cab range at 35-55, so the price may not be that far off. Tip will affect it.

My wife and I have a 1997 993 C2 6sd Cabriolet that has 39K miles on it and we are thinking about selling it. I haven't taken pics yet but it's a no excuses blk on blk/blk CA car. We have the window sticker showing that it sits as delivered with turbo option wheels, option speakers/ CD player, option interior bits such as silver gage faces etc. Mechanically, it's perfect (top cables replaced, new rear window) etc.

What should we start it at if we decide to sell it?
