Default Bergvill LED install ?

Just installed the LED kit, but I'm wondering if there is any harm in leaving out the little box that makes the blinkers go more slowly? I think I like the rapid blink. Also I seem to have two extra bulbs (30 W red) that I'm not sure where they go… They must go in the center section somewhere, but I can't see in my owner's manual any place for a bulb. Also, my fog lights don't seem to come on.

Only a matter of time before you get pulled over with that rapid blink. Replacing the relay is easy, just listen with the blinker on to determine if its in the dash behind the oil gauge or in the right center console. The red bulbs are rear driving lights that go next to the blinkers and brake lights in the rear. LOL I missed them too on my first install last Fall.

Here's a shot of where the red marker lights go in the rear corner light assemblies. Also a picture of the new light.

Foxman, thanks for the reply. Didn't realize the rapid flash would alert the local constabulary. My little town has not much going on, so I'm sure they'll be on to me in no time. I even for pulled over for no front plate! Such a hardened criminal...

Yes in my Soviet Socialist Republic no front license plate calls for a felony stop. If your blinker is not working arrest is possible. I have been ticketed for DUP.

I am followed all the time because of driving the Porsche. The Audi, not so much.

I'm sure that beautiful red 993 doesn't draw too much attention in your little town. I run the gauntlet with no front plates - it's worth the fine.

US DOT requires that all turn signals flash between 60 and 120 times per minute. See the PDF in the link below, page 175. No point in giving them a reason to pull you over. Happy trails!

I'm still running normal bulbs on my signals, but I'm aware of the faster flashing w/ LEDs. I've also thought that the faster flash might be beneficial from a visibility standpoint, as I think the small and low tails on our cars lack visibility compared to modern cars.

Completely agree that the low tails on our cars lack visibility, as do the OEM analog lights. That's what makes this LED mod all the more important and valuable. There's no need for a fast flash, however, when you've got Tore's new LED lights, and the kit includes the relay to make the LED's flash like they should. It's a 45 minute DIY that makes our 993's safer AND look better.

I recently installed the LED lights on my C4. Check out the before and after shots below:

Perhaps best to email photos of your car to vendor for correct parts assignment.

Given your side markers and no clear corners, it looks like you want the Euro. You can check the bulb contacts to verify this. Great choice for a mod. The new car looks awesome. Keep up the great posts!

I installed the HIDs and LEDs F/R last week. I think the HID kit is one of the best designed upgrades out there. It is well-engineered, simple to install, and a real safety improvement.

As far as the LEDs go, the F/R turn signal bulbs and brake bulbs were a snap. I chose to pop out the fuel/oil level guage to access the relay vs. going in through the frunk - much easier but prying out the guage did muck up its rubber gasket a bit since its old and brittle at this point.

The basket handle brake light took a bit longer. For me, the LED bulb strip was wrapped in cardboard and shipped in a long envelope. Through shipping, a number of the bulbs bent where they connected to the strip. This meant bending them back straight on the strip so it would seat properly in the light housing. It's a pretty delicate piece and I was concerned that I would snap off some of the LEDs as I bent them back into shape. It took a bit of time, but I got them straight and the whole setup looks fantastic.

Tore, I may suggest that you ship this item boxed vs. in an envelope. It might decrease the risk of it being mangled through shipping handling necessitating a return/replacement.

I'm waiting on my rear fog LED kit - they must be popular!

Again, awesome to have folks like Tore creating great products for our 993's!
