I found some reason to justify this purchase, don't remember what.
the above comment of 'WOW' is correct but still doesn't do it justice.
the CAE shifter is completely different in every good way from anything else available.
if you are tracking your car or have already deleted the center console you should buy this product.
this shifter is so good I can't imagine it will be too long before someone finds a way to move the mechanism into the center tunnel.
on our cars this eliminates the forward rod, shift tube and shift box leaving tons of space for the CAE version to fit inside the tunnel and within the center console.
couple notes
the centering spring is stiff to get into 1st and 2nd. unless you muscle your shifts it will be very hard to make the 5th to 2nd mistake.
spring force to move to 5th and 6th is easier, but the centering force to 3rd-4th is still very noticeable.
the throw is short, feels like 1/4 length of a short shift kit.
the move right from 4th to 5th is tiny, maybe 1/8 compared to normal.
shifter height is about an inch under center steering wheel and very close, just rotate your hand from the wheel to the shifter.
I've only had one track day with the shifter, but price per smile is already under $5 for the product. possibly best mod ever.

Crazy pricey for what at the end of a day is not any additional functionality........ But it's just one of those things that makes the driving experience so much better.

I already deleted the center console, now I just have to sell my wife on the looks of this thing. She's the final judge of any aesthetic changes haha

I installed mine today... What an awesome shifter!! Of course I could only "cold test" it but man the throw is short and precise. The placement is also spot on. Just like Todd writes above; just roll your hand onto the shifter and do your work.
It will not get better than this!

a few years later and I'm still very happy with the cae shifter.
only issue is the small diameter shift ****, about 40mm vs 50mm oem.
lots available in all price ranges, pretty easy to find options.
I ended up with one of the 917 copies people make, its about 45mm diameter.
so here's a pic, very nice product, looks good, feels good.

so correct me - but is the OP saying you do not need the FD short shift or the goldenrod with this installation of the CAE shifter?

ok thanks.

I find it interesting that CAE will not directly ship to the USA. You must go through a reseller.

Here is how mine came out after I modified the center console. I swapped out a complete factory RS shift kit - both the lever and the factory "golden rod". This shifter is superb. The gate center is adjustable, the gear stops are adjustable and now at the shifter head rather than in the gearbox, thus saving wear at the gearbox, reverse lock out, short throws and the lever is right where one wants it. I don't like aftermarket stuff very much but this product is fabulous.

To be clear my console is heavily modified. The pocket for the shifter is lengthened and the hand brake cup is shortened and walls were made for the shifter pocket.

Hi Cupcar - what is the modification to the handbrake lever, is it custom?

well it looks so clean I am sure you can understand why I am mistaken

Do you have any pics of the console prior to install?

Thanks for the clarification

The hand brake is made up of custom machined parts using a handlebar grip I bought at a BMX bike shop. The body is covered in leather with red stitching.
