C2 will require making a bigger hole in your tunnel box since the shifting rod goes through it.

Great stuff. I have the CAE shifter on my winter list so really interested to hear how it feels out on the road (also throwing in solid trans mounts too)

Wow, that's really nice looking and such a simple concept! I always wondered why Porsche decided to take a more elaborate approach than needed.

A few questions, will the console fit properly with that on? Will it accept a boot and a different ****? I was wondering if the bulk of the mechanism can be hidden for a more stock appearance?

Thank you for posting awesome pix

From reading the website I get the impression they intentionally don't want a more stock appearance. Also they mention the console needs to be modified to fit around it

A friend of mine and I just did an installation on his GT3 last night, took a few hours, works wonderfully, but I was thinking of converting my C4 to C2 and install the CAE shifter, but I'm not sure I'd still need to mod the tunnel or not?

If all is reversible to stock, then I'm definitely in, could the OP please chime in?

Thanks for sharing your pics!

your situation reads the same as the op, all you do is remove items, no mods at all.

can you describe the difference in shifter feel or performance from stock to CAE on the gt3?

The CAE shifter is much shorter than OEM and it locks in tight and sturdy. You can see the mechanism working and also heavy traffic is no concern at all. It's just a joy to exercise shifting anyway Putting into reverse is a kinda hard but I'm sure we'll just need a few more adjustments with the allen heads on the mechanism. Overall, a great product! Get in touch with Christian Au, he will sort you out.

Sweet! I didn't know they made one for the 993s...? I looked at a lot of options for my GT2 some time ago, maybe they didn't make it that time.

I'm gonna buy this right now!

I functionally installed mine over the past weekend on my C2. The installation turned out to be easier than I expected it to be. The hardest part was enlarging the shifter tube mounting hole to allow for the new CAE rod to pass through it...nothing I couldn't handle with a die grinder, some sweat, and some patience. Installation of the mechanicals just took a few hours on my own, even while taking many resting breaks (I did the install while still sick with a cold, and didn't have much energy to do work). Adjustments to the shifter are easy to make, too, using the simple Allen nuts built into the shifter base. Initially I wasn't able to get into 5th and 6th gears, but that was easily corrected in about a minute with a quick adjustment to one of the nuts.

Initial impression after the first drive is "WOW". All the vagueness and bushing slop that was in the original shifter is now gone. Ergonomically, the CAE shifter is perfect, placed right next to the steering wheel for fast & easy shifting. Gear shifting force is heavier due to the spring tension in the CAE shifter, but I like it that way. Prior to the upgrade, I had to shift slowly to ensure against any issues caused by slop. After the upgrade, I can now shift nearly as fast as in my Miata (which I still think has the best manual shifter in the galaxy).

This weekend I'll be finishing up the installation, buttoning up the underside of the car and addressing interior cosmetics (modifying the center console to fit the new shifter).

I do have a photo, but the cosmetics aren't done yet so it looks like crap right now. But here you go anyway....

that is a good looking piece of hardware.
I need to find some way of justifying the purchase.
