Steve - I'm very glad to hear you are OK. We all share your loss (emotionally) with RUFUS. This car of yours gave us inspiration in so many ways. Great thoughts are heading your way.

As I'm sure is normal, I'm having a lot of 2nd and 3rd thoughts about the accident. I remember little except when rounding the sharp bend, there was a truck right in front of me. Since it would be normal for a vehicle making that left (the truck) to encroach over the double yellow to make the curve easier to negotiate, was it possible that he was in my lane? Did any one see anything to corroborate this? Its weird that I'm only thinking of this now (thanks for the thought Overboosted), but I suppose this might explain what happened. Anyone? Please PM me if you saw anything. Thanks.
As for me, my ankle is very colorful but mostly better already. I'll stop off at my Insurance agents office today.

Steve: like everyone else, I'm so sorry to hear about this accident and also very glad to hear that you are (mostly) uninjured. I can attest to how stout these cars are in a head-on collision, and also how sad it is to lose the car. (At a quick first glance, I thought someone had unearthed a picture of my car post-accident.) All the best to you as you heal and deal with the aftermath.

Good luck with everything, and glad you were not more seriously injured.

I had PM'd Steve and offered assistance. For the most part all collisions are very traumatic for both parties. It's very easy to think the worse ("what did I do?") when these occur. Some are clear, that the other person was negligent and caused it. When it happens so quick and you're still stunned, it's difficult to gather your thoughts as to what actually occurred. The damage to the involved cars, areas of inpact and points of rest usually make things pretty clear. Controlled intersections, where both parties are claiming "my light was green" can be a little harder to determine fault without an unbiased witness. If you know you weren't screwing around and/or doing something downright stupid, give yourself the benefit of the doubt. It may not be your fault, and at the very least there may be associated factors.

Great relief to hear you are ok, and my condolences about your beautiful car.
At the expense of "just business." as a 20+ year lawyer (I don't litigate, but I see enough of it) I strongly encourage you not to post a lot about the accident or how you are doing. Even an offhand comment can and will come back, and other parties' stories often change with time.

I met my sister for lunch that works at the shop where Rufus was towed. I was able to pay a short visit to see Rufus in person and it is very sad. I feel so bad for Steve who has always been so friendly and a great ambassador for Ruf in particular and 993's in general. I really hope to see him at another cars and coffee soon.
