Polar Silver W/Houndstooth/Classic Grey interior
I used to have a dec. 1993 (yes... 1993) Riviera Blue W/Marble Grey 993... and I built some custom houndstooth interior panels for it. It was the subject of a few threads here a few years back. Anyway... I ended up selling it and trading up to a Polar Silver w/Classic Grey 1996 TT. I kept the houndstooth interior panels and put the Riviera car back to it's stock Marble Grey interior when I sold it.
So for the past few years I have had these interior panels laying around. Because the houndstooth panels were Marble Grey and or Black... and my interior new interior is Classic Grey... I finally got around to ordering up some Classic Grey Surflex from Color Plus. I brushed on a few coats of the classic over the marble grey and black on the spare panels... and they now match my existing interior perfectly.... takes a bit of practice to get the stuff on right though... thinner coats are better!
After letting them dry for a few days... today I went about switching out the panels with my stock panels.
Below is the results. I realize custom interiors are pretty subjective and different folks like different looks. Myself... I like my cars to have a little something extra... but nothing that screws up the car or cannot be put back to stock in a day or two. So in this case... all my original panels are carefully packaged up and stored in a box in my garage.
I like the look... it would be a bit better I think if there were more black in the car... It's pretty good... better than the ALL GREY interior.
first shot shows the panel... masked off with blue masking tape... and the surflex is still wet... one pint of the stuff from Color Plus is plenty!
