Default Stoneguards

Had this started today.

Passenger side came off clean but I lost some paint on the drivers side.

Won't have the touch up paint till Tuesday which is when the job will be completed.

Installer says it'll be no problem to make sure that you'd never be able to tell that anything went wrong.

Perfect.

Half way up by the wheel I lost a little paint. Also a few chips down low by the textured part.

Looks good!

Bought the never used stone guards from Foxman so will be tackling the same this winters project season.
My C2S still has the factory tinted guards but since I live north of the 49th parallel they should just fall off

The installer will print the Stoneguards from digital templates in the shop on the day.

Looking forward to getting this done and dusted.

That's my next project. I got mine directly from Sunset.
For some reason my original guards were half the height of these new ones. I don't know if it was a early 95 993 thing, or just that the PO had installed some 911 ones...
I got one side off very easy in 25 degree celsius weather a couple months ago. No glue residue, but the guard broke in little pieces as I was pulling on it. It was time consuming.
I started off using a hair dryer, but it really did not do much, and I finished without any heat.
Now it is cold outside, and I am planning on heating the garage up to 24 before tackling the other side. I suspect finding the right temperature is the key. I won't be using a heat gun.
Fingers crossed!

I would strongly recommend using a heat gun. They're $30 at ur local hardware shop and you'll find many uses for it.

Yeah, now I'm thinking I should invest in one. I just read a few horror stories of paint peeling off...

Cheers,

Check out my thread from a couple weeks back about my experience with replacing my stone guards.

Yes, you guessed correctly. The very early 95s had a smaller stone guard
Porsche revised them and continued the new pattern through the 98 MY 993
Good move as the impact area is considerably broader than the original design

You definitely want the thicker 3M material
8 mil isn't enough for the wide hips of the 993...
