does anyone know this broken part?
I noticed this during a tech of my car before ad DE event. This is right behind the fan. Does anyone know if this can be replaced without dropping the engine? Not sure what could cause this. My temp never went up so I wonder if this is used more for heating. Any info would be appreciated.

Very common problem. Part is (or was) around $60 from sunset or Sonnen, three bolts to R&R,no engine drop required. Note there are two different part numbers depending on your yr/model, check on PET or Katalog
