996 sport seat height
looking for info on height increase when installing 996 sport seats in a 993. i've read some of the install threads and understand they're somewhere around 1.5" higher - at the lowest setting - than the stock 993 seats. is this accurate - from someone who has them installed? right now, i have my 993 seats set to the lowest height adjustment and i want to make sure the added height of the 996 sport seats won't detract from the appeal. thanks!

I have 996 Sport seats in my 993. The height is adjustable and I like sitting fairly high and close to the steering wheel... but I don't think there was much of a difference between 993 and 996 in the lowest positions on OEM 993 sliders.

lucky, can you give me the height at the front center of the seat - distance from floor to top of cushion - at the seat's lowest setting? also, can you estimate what you think the lowest seat height might be in the middle rear of the seat cushion. where you actually sit? thanks!
what are the BK brackets and why did you use them over the stock brackets?

i've read it could be as much as 1.5" difference and that's a lot when you like to sit at the very lowest setting already. just trying to make sure i'm not disappointed in the height after an install. thanks.

the Brey Krause brackets are adapters to make the 996 seat sliders bolt to the 993 seat rails...here are some pics from the manual...I used these because I didn't want to cut or bend any of the 996 slider parts...only thing I needed to dremel off was the seat locator pin...good luck...

i appreciate the info, lucky. thank you very much.
i did a quick measurement of my current 993 seats and it shows 9" in the front/center and maybe as little as 5.5" at the seat bottom. looks like i might be looking at an inch higher in the rear seat area overall and i can probably live with that. i'll probably hate it in the beginning, but get used to it over time.

hmmm. that is definitely something to consider. i'm not a huge guy, but my back is a bit wide. my '87 sport seats grab you further down on the back and don't cause that issue. i'll test fit to verify. thanks.

i don't have them in the car yet, but i have some initial measurement on the 996 Sport seats. sitting flat on the ground, the front, leading edge of the seat is approx. 7.25-7.5" off the ground and the seat area (not shown that well in the photo) is about 4-4.25" off the ground. these should be comparable to the 993 seats they'll be replacing. these are also fully manual seats minus the seat back, but i'm not sure that makes a difference in height - lack of motors. i also understand that there might actually be a 'low' set of rails, available with the Sport seats originally, that could lower the seats more. i have a friend who said he had these in his 996. will follow up with further comparison measurements when i get to that point.
