Miata is such an antithesis of every German car, especially in the last 25 years...

I can tell what my only issue is with ND. Its grown up. It doesn't have a smile. It shouldn't matter, though, as it promises to be a very decent and responsive driver. Moving back to lower weight is to be applauded as loudly as possible. Regardless of power and other stuff.

The only thing Miata ever missed in my opinion, in every generation, is the engine that sings like an Alfa. Not powerful, not elastic, none of that much matters. It's just...

A lot of us dream and aspire to a sports car

Kidding, just kidding. A few of us do own both.

At least Mazda knows what a sports car is, Porsche's latest 911 is closer to a Mercedes sedan in its approach. Cayman is the sports car at Porsche.

Holy Shnikes!!!! Two threads in one week involving Miatas......

For me, being able to twist it up without getting stupid fast has proven to be quite fun. BTW....I think the new one looks great, wasn't a big fan of the last generation's look.

I really like it- amazing that a company is actually removing weight from a car instead of porking it up like Porsche and BMW have done with their cars. I've autocrossed a few friends Miatas and I always had fun doing it- so predictable and fun to drive. My brother has a turbocharged one that gives me 993 hell on the track!

Which is part of why I started this thread. Same reason I keep my e30. I can wind it up and keep in pinned thru most turns. 14" wheels/tires feel fun.

I do like the looks of the car, but if you had to boil it down to one sentence, you nailed it!

How come the only people that complain about it being a chick car are the ones that own one?

I wouldn't mind owning one though, even with that stigma.

A truly well designed light-weight sports car ... and 1,000 pounds less than a Boxster

Faulty logic and assumption here. At least three people who have posted in this thread own a Miata and not one of them has complained that the Miata is a chick car. The only poster who has commented on the chick aspect used to own one.

The "chick car" comment was often made about the 986 Boxster. Having owned a 986, I can say I loved every minute of it and had no concerns about my actual or perceived sexuality while driving the car. The 986 is a true sports car.

Those that haven't driven it often criticize it and label it as "chick cars." Those that have driven it don't fret and look forward to their next twisty back road drive in the car.

Haters gonna hate.

Drivers gonna drive.

Must be an awful lot of chick racers out there :

"Twenty-five years later, MX-5 has racked up more than 200 awards and sold more than 920,000 worldwide as of December 2013, making it the Guinness Book of World Records holder for “Best-Selling Two-Seater Sports Car.” Adding to these great achievements, more MX-5s are road-raced on any given weekend than any other model of car."
