Hagerty vs. Grundy vs. Classic Collectors
I know that this has been discussed here at least 100 times over the years but lets revisit it for my mental being. I currently have 10 cars on my Hagerty policy. I have been with them for a little less than 10 years. So far all has been good with them but I have felt that their rates have definitely crept up over the last few years. My renewal was 9/1 which I paid for.
I contacted Grundy today just for kicks and they seem quite a bit less expensive for the same coverages or more. i currently have $100k/ 0 deductible & Roadside service with Hagerty. I'm paying $4,300.00/yr. On top of that my agreed values are off because I haven't updated them in years.
Grundy came back at $3,300 for $500K/ 0 deductible & Roadside service but with adding about $45K total to my agreed values. Seems like a no brainer to me. Has anyone else been in the same prediciment and if so what was your outcome?

I moved to Grundy about 5yrs ago and haven't looked back. Esp with multicar - I think in even going to let them quote my DDs the next renewal since they're getting in on that side as well.

Not a direct comparison... I Switched my triumph to Grundy this year. Hagerty wouldn't cover me, Grundy did without hesitation for very short money. I'll be adding my 964 to the policy once i pick up another daily driver. Very happy with Grundy thus far.

I use Grundy. Cheaper than Haggerty for sure. Some issues regarding customer service, and I am not the only one. Hard to get them on the phone. They are now owned by Philidelphia Ins. Company.
I totaled out my '07 Cayman, took them 6 months to write the check...don't know why. I did get to buy the car back. And aside from the wait, it was a no hassle affair.

I use Hagerty but i only have 1 car on the policy. Grundy I beleive requires multiple cars to begin a policy, but I could be wrong. All of my other vehicles and home are with AAA which I have been with with for 12 years and do not want to discontinue.
Haggerty was cheaper than AAA based on collector car insurance. I am fairly new to collector car insurance so any direction on this topic would be appreciated.
Thanks RRC715

This. They were very weary of the fact that i would be riding mid week ( my typical days off) vs weekends.
This is the opposite of my experience. Grundy insures just one vehicle, while hagerty refused to.

I own Porsche 356's and now a 993. When I was restoring one 356 a friend told me to call Haggerty to see if they would pay for a new windshield I had bought 6 months earlier in anticipation of the restoration. They said if I had a receipt they would….they did. They also asked if I was putting on new rubber seals. I had bought a complete kit. They asked me to coast out the front windshield. I did
I had a check ($700) in 2 weeks…….No questions….No hassle

When my 97' 993tt was vandalized in Las Vegas on my fourth day of ownership, the Grundy agent assured me that I could have the car repaired wherever I chose. They were true to their word. They never questioned the estimate, they just wrote checks. I don't see how their service could possibly improved. Grundy is a a total class act that is there when you need them.

I was in contact with the agent that handles some other policies that I have today. I mentioned the debacle to her and she told me that they also write policies for Classic Collectors Insurance by Infinity. I have never really heard of them but she offered to quote out a policy for me. She came back with a price that was even less expensive than Grundy. The same coverage with agreed values and high PI, PD and Uninsured motorist coverages. 6K miles per year with no strange stipulations that I can see.
I also added a 993TT to the policy so the count is up to 11 and the total premium is now $3,300/ yr.
More thoughts?
- $500,000 Bodily Injury
- $500,000 Propery Damage
- $300,000 Uninsured Motorist
- 6,000 miles per year (per vehicle)
- $250 Towing coverage per occurrence (per vehicle)
- $0 deductible
- Free windshield replacement
