Well it won't help for tracking down the current draw issue, at least not in the manner we are used to using, but it can be used to measure the voltage drop across a fuse, which is related to current flow.

A voltmeter is far more useful in telling you the charge state of the battery while parked and the charging of the battery while underway.

But FYI, a voltmeter can/should only be used for tracking down current draws in a more recent CANBUS equipped vehicle.
