Accident..
Well it wasn't my fault. Coming from the supermarket parking lot, I was waiting to make a right turn onto the main road. Out of no where the guys trailer broke off a guys truck spun off the road and hit my drivers side. Most of the damage is on the drivers door. The mirror is gone. The car still is drivable and works fine. I think its purely cosmetic but we'll see. It could of been a lot worse. I saw that hook spin so close to the windshield. He admitted it was his fault to the police (good thing) and has full coverage insurance (supposedly)
Crazy. I know.

Ouch!!!
A good friend of mine was killed due to a similar incident... a guy's trailer unhitched from his truck, flew across the road, and into her car.

I am not a body guy but I would just replace the entire door and transfer your parts to a solid dismantler example. I would be mostly concerned about how the rocker panel is repaired. A replacement probably involves a lot of welded structural seam dis-assembly. Repairing the existing rocker will involve some level of filler in a area subject to road debris abrasion. My gut tells me I would try to repair the existing one as it avoids a structural intervention.
Any one else have thoughts on this?

Man that's a sweet looking trailer, you could fit a huge amount of valuable **** in that, hope it's not a write off and will be seeing action taking the grille out to the camp site soon. The owner must have been in tears.

Thanks everyone. I was so pissed and just shocked it happened. I was stopped too just crazy that this would happen. I would be more mad but seeing the hook of the trailer almost killed me as it was spinning, i'm more thankfull i guess.
I never would think to replace the door, it opens and close fine, but i dont really remember how perfect it is. I need to inspect better tomorrow. Now I usually like to have work done at Superior www.superiorautobodyshop.com where they do a lot of expensive cars and do a great job. OR should I have the repair done at the porsche dealer collision center? Where I would assume it's "guaranteed" work. (Bert smith porsche st. pete)
And ya the guy was yelling "whyd i hit a porsche"..... To picture him, think of a white red neck type person with old truck. That man didn't even apologize. I still cant belive after everything he hooked up the trailer back to his truck and most likely drove off. I had already left.
Thanks all

had your life flying past your eyes ..but really it just looks like a matter of inches ..stationary or not
being as defensive as possible in these small cars can be the difference between living or not!Bert
