That price cannot be correct with 993 GT2 having sold in Europe for up to €800k.

The reason being it is a conversion on a 993 cabriolet!

Interesting car none the less.

My cousin and I discussed it. Then he went in the 910/907 direction. Tomorrow when I see him I'll mention this and see if he thinks this would have been easier than the 910 Bergspyder now in process.

wasn't the original GT-1 $1M?

I remember seeing on at Callas back in the 98 time frame. I was covered, but there was no mistaking the shape. I asked Tony if it was a GT-1, and he was cool enough to uncover it, and talk a bit about it. I honestly was so in awe of what I was looking at, I didn't hear anything he was saying.

Proportion look off in photos, how close to a replica is it? More of a tribute?

Proportions are a little misleading look at the wheelbase certainly stock 993 and the GT1
was definitely a good bit longer ..
My buddy Ed has had one in his shop better part of this entire year he presented it at the Parade and Werks Reunion , this particular example was of the later 996 variety but
everything aft of the front firewall either 993 or 996 was one off.
Oh and as for cost ,hum lets say $1.5 plus... Bert

Never understood this type of thing. The select few that know what the car is trying to replicate wouldn't be fooled from 100', in the dark, and drunk. In other words, somebody spent a lot of coin for nothing. Might as well throw an LS-1 in it and call it a day.

I got a feeling from my many trips to Germany that it's an extremely conforming society. Specifically, if you are an engineer, for example, you would not drive a Porsche to work, you would only drive it on weekends, away from possible discussion by your co-workers.

Based on that, those who don't want to conform tend to go all the way. it's visible sometimes in clothing or car colors (speed yellow, revere blue and bright green P-cars are all examples of that). In my opinion that explains this GT-1 replica.

Oh, the funniest example of this non-conformism is VW Alrequin, where you have to wait for the other 3 non-conformists to buy the car:
