Default My first 500 miles – the good and not so good

The Good – I absolutely enjoy driving the motor. The handling and acceleration is the best I’ve ever experienced and the sound and smells are intense. Friends and family really like it as well. I’ve allowed at least 5 others to drive it so far so they can experience the handling and I’ve only had it on the road for 3 weeks.
Not so good – Why all the hate? I’ve never experienced so much aggression on the road when driving my 00’ Jeep or 68’ Mustang. It seems every other import wants to race and pedestrians give me dirty looks at intersection because they think I’m speeding. Recently driving on an interstate cruising at 75 I passed a SUV using the appropriate left lane hitting about 90 mph. After making sure the SUV’s headlights were clearly visible in my side view mirror I moved back to the middle lane. All of a sudden this SUV starts flashing his high beams like I cut him off. I’m so far ahead of him before I switch lanes I’m thinking damn my spoiler must be hanging off the tail or something and he is trying to help me. So I slow down to take stock of the situation and the SUV catches up and floors it to pass me, I start laughing.
Anyway, although I wrote more about the bad than good, I will have to learn how to deal with the uneducated out there that think high revs and tight cornering equals speeding because this one is a keeper.

I think the problem is that you're not driving fast enough. Make it hard for others to keep up. You won't experience any of the above issues anymore

I get this all the time while driving around town. People always try to race me on the freeways or rev at me at stop lights. I just drop a few gears and let the enjoy the rear end of my 993 and the sound that the supercups make.

I agree.

Another thing you could do. Travel out to a rural area, you know, the kind of place where you don't know the folks, their animals, wildlife and farm equipment.

Drive too quickly out there.

This does not happen to me. Like ever. Even if it did most cars today could spank a 993NA anyways. Just drive like a human.

Maybe people over there in Jersey are much nicer drivers than here in California.

99% of the time, I feel nearly invisible in my car. No one seems to even notice the 993 on the road. When I'm driving with a friend and his C5 Z06, the Chevy gets all the attention. Fine by me.

The 1% happened exactly like this last week. No way did I cut anyone off, but, wow, was that the other driver's perception. Instant road rage. I just slowed down and got the hell out of the way.

This does not ever happen to me either. (California). I'm not sure that an old 993 is something that registers at all in the "special car" meter of the general population here in the Northern California Bay Area.

In the past when I was driving the red cabrio I had a couple of times "people" that actually tried to push me off the road! Lots of haters are out there which always made me wonder. Just drive safe and let them hate.

never happens to me either.

I don't get any hate, or love or anything. I may as well be driving a camry.

I really wonder where people live that 20 year old 911s are causing such a stir.

Just drive like a human being (a fast one), watch out for mutants (they're everywhere), and always be armed. I pity (not) the moron who thinks he's gonna run me off the road, try a carjacking, or otherwise going to try and harm me. "I feared for my safety and the safety of others, I had to eliminate the threat of great bodily injury or death"!

Agreed, my car is rarely noticed at all and nobody ever wants to race. I think my 1/2 ton GMC truck gets more attention.
