ABS pump problem - spongy pedal
Well I think my ABS pump needs to be replaced. My Indie is first replacing the brake master cylinder and if that doesn't fix it at a tune of $1200 then an ABS pump for $5,000. I have look up previous discussions and all say to flush with alcohol and then with brake fluid but the Indie will not go that route. I heard there is company that rebuilds the ABS pumps but the Indie called and they said they don't do that any more. Any advice would be of great help for me and the car.

Spongy pedal is usually from air in the system, a thorough bleed will usually resolve this.
If there are specific reasons your Indy suspects the ABS pump, you could try flushing with DOT 3 fluid, activate ABS a few times (eg brake hard on gravel). Leave fluid for a week or so, during which you can drive normally - but no track time eg drivers ed's!
After a week the DOT 3 dissolves the crystalline deposits from old DOT 4 which apparently can cause ABS / ABD pump problems. Then flush DOT 3 and replace with DOT 4, AND Flush annually thereafter.
Hopefully that sorts the issue for you. Seems this affects 95's more than other years, not sure what you're driving.

Burning Brakes
There are definitely other things to try before replacing expensive mechanical parts, namely what's stated above. I would be weary of a mech that recommends $7500 in fixes before trying the $75 ones...

When I first bought my car, a few months later, the brake depal went all the way to the floor when depressed. It looked like a very serious problem. I brought it back to a very well respected shop who had done my brakes before that and he said I needed a new ABS pump or something that cost about $1500 in part alone. He even suggested to contact Porsche for assistance. I brought the car to another shop for a bleed job that cost $75 and it's still fine after 13yrs. This is the shop I go to now.

When I disconnected the front brake lines to install koni FSDs i had to bleed the system at least 4 times to get the air out. Tapping the calipers with a rubber/wood mallet while bleeding seemed to help. Also turning on the ignition seemed to help a bit. The latter was suggested online as it supposedly activates the abs pump...

Brake update- My mechanic installed the new master cylinder and flushed the brake system a few times and I have brakes again. They told me to drive it a few 1000 miles and we will see if I need an ABS pump. Elliot thank you for your offer of an ABS pump you have but I need to see if this works first. I was also thinking of installing stainless steel break lines too just to be extra safe. Thanks to everyone for their kind help.

Teddy2,
Steel brake lines should outlast the car.

Nice results from the helping hands of Turbohead, aka Elliot
This coulda/shoulda been accomplished at the same time the master cylinder was being installed. Unless you dont care about paying for another brake bleed...
