Default 15 km 993 GT2 found in Kuwait

Thought I would share..

http://www.crankandpiston.com/on-the-road/porsche-993-gt2-the-un-driven-kuwait/

I felt like I was in a dream! As a kid I used to dream about finding cars in crazy places; gardens, barns, abandoned buildings etc and was actually lucky enough to find a 1956 VW Beetle a number of years ago that had been locked away early on in the 60′s, only for it to reappear on the streets of Coventry, England some 40 years later.

These kind of finds sadly deminish as the years progress, however having moved to the Middle East, I have found that “Barn finds” have become an opportunity again. I can safely say however that I never expected to stumble across one of my dream cars, wrapped up with delivery miles on the clock…I still can’t quite believe it – but it’s true.

The Porsche 993 GT2 has to go down in history as one of the most epic machines ever to come out of the doors of Jurgen Barth and Roland Kussmauls skunk work’s. The car was developed specifically for racing and punched well above it’s weight thanks to being force fed by a pair of KKK K24 Turbo’s. Developing 430bhp in street trim and restricted to a believed 57 units (road legal) it is a rare beast in todays mass produced crowd.

So to find one of these monsters with delivery mileage on it and a history of nothing, is a dream come true for any Porschephile or even petrolhead. Yes, the car would need a tremendous amount of re-work to bring it back to road use but I would be game on. Now I wonder how my wife will take to the house being put on the market?

So where exactly was this found then? The article doesn't seem to give many details.

Amazing find though!

Well, you might have to include in the restoration costs any resulting alimony payments.

You should see Phil's 912 as well...he's a true Porsche/VW fan.

don't know Phil, but I imagine he's a great guy...certainly has good taste in cars. That being said, any true Porsche fan should not allow a genuine GT2 to suffocate in a plastic bag it's entire life.

Wouldn't a true fan, drive, enjoy, and maintain to the highest degree such a beautiful example. Stuffing ANYTHING into a bag for 20 years, doesn't do it any good.

So I just stumbled upon this post online as I was searching this car after hearing about it yesterday.

For those that are still interested, I have all the details you have been asking for. And believe me your just going to sit there and stare at your screen once you've read it, because when I was told, I was staring at the person and couldn't string a sentence together.

The Porsche is in Kuwait, and it is owned by the son of the owner/partner of Porsche in Kuwait.

Oh and to make your day even better. He owns two of them. Both with delivery mileage.

So, where are the keys to my Corolla? I need to get going. Peace.
