upgrade to Stage lll's, they'll quiet down that SC noise by default

That would just be way too loud for me. Some of the increased volume may be coming from the open cone air filter; TPC suggested wrapping it with a piece of aluminum, which I may try. I may also try putting a piece of sound deadening on the underside of the engine lid; only a portion of the lid is open to allow heat to escape.

Hey Gridlock61,

Think you and I were after the same thing...superfast, with the wind in your hair!!

The videos posted by "Juha G" of the SC 993 look and sound amazing!! Almost sounds electric!

Any chance of you strapping a GOPRO to the dash and letting us sample the wind and the whistle/whine?

I love my turbo cab. The waste gate sound amazing with the roof down

Ah, you're a CAB man! I don't have a GoPro, but will try using my cell phone. Hopefully the sound quality will be Ok.

Do you notice the wastegate sound MUCH more with the top down? Who did your turbo install?

Have you heard, and ridden/driven a 993 with Stage lll's? Reasonably quiet at relaxed pace/rpm, sweet music when on the gas.

Waste gate is wide open so it is noticeable with the top up or down. Sounds great!!

I have just purchased the car and it already had the Turbo conversion done. The conversion was completed by ninemeister.

Totally agree. Especially with the windows and sunroof open, they are absolutely incredible. Also if you're driving on the highway with everything closed, they may take a little getting used to, but the sound is not that bad.

I'm curious what the metal to metal sound could be?

You shouldnt be hearing a metal-to-metal contact sound. You should be hearing something similar to an old ford power steering pump thats on its last legs. A sort of whinning sound.

When I put.the supercharger in my land cruiser it was the added torque that made me happy.

Gridlock61,

Hope your Supercharger is getting sorted out and putting a smile on your face.

August 30 I am planning on doing a SCCA Performance Driving Experience track day on the full course of Sebring (at $90 for the day, it can't be beat). New Pilot Sport II tires, oil change and I am ready!!!!

So, the question I have is: Who has had one of these on for a fairly substantial timeframe and mileage? I'm curious as to whether the kits are such that the system can be installed, fully sorted out, and then enjoyed for a long time? Or, are they finicky, requiring constant fiddling or repairs of some sort?
