Speed Yellow 993 RS in Ellicott City?
#32
Budge,,,check the build numbers of Cup M001 and M003 RS CS, do not include the regular M002, it's fairly straightforward and hardly stupid!
Some of the comments on here are hilarious, a few of us long term RS owners who know the cars well are on here sharing our experience. M003 is the correct designation for a CS, it is marked several places on the car including the welded in cage.
I have only ever heard of one CS that was apparently supplied without a cage, this was by word of mouth and when I tried to find out more detail about this rare unicorn/dodo hybrid, further information was not available.
This is why the collectors buy the real M471 and fully documented cars, because there is so much folklore and inaccuracy posted on the internet!
We're all luck to have 993's, enjoy your cars!

I heard that there was an "RSCS" delivered w/o cage in Australia (white colour car) BUT, a collector or those who know their onions will never classify this as a real M003 (it is a cynical attempt by Porsche to make money off silly customers). I would NEVER buy RSCS w/o the welded Matter cage as these are the real deal that left the factory designated as RSCS and the ones that are sought after.
By the same token, if I strip the car of its carpets and put on the biplane wing, GT splitters, LW flywheel my car does not become an RSCS
Jo, I would love to see your documents that you have stated, and would love to know how many such pseudo RSCS were built by the factory.

If I am not mistaken, someone in PCA bought my brothers yellow RS with only 10000km from Japan. That is definitely not M003 but as per Japanese market RS, they all had biplane wings and GT splitters as standard. I do not know if customers asked for standard RS aeros.

Hi and thanks for hte nice post.
I agre with what Clubsport1 and RS man have said with only 1 exception. There have been several RS CS cars (M003) which have been built without the welded roll-cage. All these cars are RHD and have been delivered to Australia and NZ where due to road regulations it was not allowed to have the roll-case. So for the several unitl of M003 delivered there the car was imported without a roll cage and then there was a bolted on cage mounted prior to delivery to the customer.
I can personnally testing as I have seen several of these car and they had the M003 code in the car factory label under the hood and in the service book.
Hope this will help the evergreen quest of gathering info on Porsche.
Sebastien
PS: by interest could one of you guys go see the 2 993 RS cars and get the chassis numbers (visible at bottom right corner of windshield)?:

I have heard about these Australian rhd cars before a few times. I was under the impression they were fitted with a bolt in cage by the dealership.
I would be interested to hear how the rest of the spec stands up with such things as the gearbox ratios.
In a (real) CS M003, the car is fitted with a 6 point harness, there are no seat belts fitted as per the M002.
I assume these cars came equipped with seat belts as per the M002?
I don't quite understand why anyone would order a CS M003 without the features specific to the CS which then makes the car closer to an M002, when you could just order an M002 with the bodykit of your choice!
