finally picked up my 97 ocean blue 999 cab 40k miles. All is good had the car inpected no issues. But the convertable top warning light comes on with top closed every time i start the car and doesn't go out till slightly open and then close the top. Anyone have any insight i assume this a minor issue

Stevie, search this forum for aligment/adjustment procedures... there are several threads that discuss various adjustments. I suspect there is a microswitch that is in need of tweaking.
