Hi guys, same problem on my 993 Targa, seal tear where foot enters the car...
One thing I'm considering is buying a 964 seal and cut just the bottom section and re glue with neoprene glue, did similar job in my boat a couple of times and works great, any thoughts?

I'd research that a bit more before you buy. I believe the targa seal is different from the coupes (and I think the cabs). So a 964 part would most likely not be an option. Let me know what you figure out.

The 964 OEM route makes much more sense, otherwise it is absolutely ludicrous. How is the 964 seals fitment on a 993, any gaps, the amount of pressure applied when closing the doors etc? If all good, then I'm ordering a pair.

Come on guys! The future owner of your car (in 50 years) will be very upset when they lose the concours and have to spend $2301.79 to buy the correct seal for the drivers side!

From the 964 forum:
I had my main door seals replaced when I had the retrim done and ended up with the style pictured on the left; same as originals. The only issue is that the 'breather' holes in the seal are a poor design and any water that collects in the seal then drips through the lower holes and into the car's interior rather than outside. I have since been told that 993 door seals are an improved design and cure this problem. Haven't seen them to compare the difference.

For $50 you can buy a door seal made to fit an earlier 1986 Carrera. You can cut a section out to replace the worn section on your car. The profile is the same, the finish differs slightly, no biggie. One seal is good for several repair sections. If you have a concern about joining new to old you can use a small section of air hose slipped into the joined ends to make the mating look perfect.

If the door seals from the 964 can be used on the 993, any idea if the same is true for the "frunk" seal?

Would it be too much trouble to ask if you could snap a few photos showing the trim and fitment please? Then we would have a chance to compare with the 993 seals and then place an order TIA
