Thoughts you guys might be interested, 67% off apparently. One can always use a code scanner, those seem to be rated pretty high:

Ferik,
Thanks for the heads-up. Do we know whether these Actrons will "work' on our OBD-II Porsches? Can any of the Actrons on the e-Bay page reset or clear codes that may pop up in our cars?

I have an Actron 9180, I think I paid about $120 for it on Amazon, but that was probably 5-6 years ago. It looks like prices have gone up.
The 9180 works fine, it reads the codes, shows drive cycle status and allows reset of the CEL, which are the main functions needed for most of us.
It will tell you the number of the code, i.e. P0300 is a random misfire, so you will have to look up the actual Malfunction, but those references are readily available on the internet, as well as Adrian Streather's book.
Overall, I am pleased with the Actron and I would buy an Actron again if I had to, perhaps even get a model or two down from the 9180, as there are many functions that I simply do not use. for one thing, the 9180 is a bit large. I do not use the memory functions, although I suppose if one is diagnosing a problem, long term storage of historical values could be of value.

Haven't used them, but several RLers in the past recommended INNOVA brand as well (on Amazon as well). There's a graphic showing all of the features of their models for comparison in the description...

I just bought a Durametric (because it was a name brand per se) and it doesnt have the interface or as much functionality as I expected. I have no experience with generic OBD tools so maybe its better, but it is a lot more expensive. I am coming from the ross-tech devices for Audi which are worth their weight in gold compared to generic tools. So people on the fence should compare these OBD tools to the Durametrics and see what they are or are not losing in terms of functionality instead of blindly buying the more expensive type like I did.

I "think" I have the Actron CP9575 that I bought from AutoZone for about the same price (~$100). It works great on our cars, and shows the status of the readiness codes, as well as any CEL codes, and allow a reset of the CEL codes. Easy to use and highly recommended by me, not that that counts for much.

P.S. The Actron was a replacement to an Innova, in which I was completely displeased. As expected, I cant remember the model #, only that it was a POS, IMO.
