Blackstone Labs: Great Service!
I just changed the transaxle oil on my '97 C2 at 64,000 miles (Delvac 75w-90). Since I couldn't find any record that any of the previous owners had changed the gear oil, I thought it might not be a bad idea to get it analyzed.
I used Blackstone Labs, and I am very impressed with their service. My sample was delivered to them this morning, and my analysis showed up in my email this afternoon.
If you want your engine/transaxle oil analyzed, I would highly recommend Blackstone. The sample kit is free, and the analysis costs $25.00 plus shipping. Money well spent.
Oh, I almost forgot: My sample showed high amounts of iron, but also below normal viscosity and lower than normal flashpoint, so Blackstone suspects that this oil had been in the transaxle for a long time...possibly since new!
