Question Shop near Fayetteville, NC

Good Morning,

I just moved from Kansas City to Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Can anyone recommend a shop near Fayetteville? I can drive to Raleigh, but being a little closer to Fayetteville would be nice.

thanks,

Not sure in Fayetteville, but Charlotte has quite a few great Porsche shops and a TON of PCA members. -Some of the best int he country from what I am told. Plus the drive in to Charlotte is VERY fun from your neck of the woods.

Thanks RS, but I have to admit three hours is a long way to drive for maintenance.

I would like to keep the drive to one hour or less if possible. I think finding something in Fayetteville itself is a long shot, but I am hoping some of the Raleigh guys know of a good place or two.

thanks,

I know of a good 928 mechanic in Raleigh - Ray Munsch (RAM auto), works out of his man cave. You might want to contact him and see if he is interested or could refer you to another person.

I'm from Fayetteville NC, but I moved away in '95. Still have family there, but they won't be able to recommend a shop.

There is a Porsche dealer there, but I'm not big on taking my cars to a dealer. A quick search also shows Valley Motors, but I have no experience with them.

There will definitely be some in Raleigh, but another place to look would be Wilmington.

Are you in the Army?

From Fayetteville, besides the Porsche dealer on Bragg Blvd, there are 3 indie shops that I am aware of.

European Performance in Raleigh, where my car has been serviced for the last 9 years ...

http://www.europeanperformance.net/

E&MP Service in Aberdeen - owner is Rick Mirabito. There is a shop in North Raleigh owned by Kanon Best. I do not know the name of his shop but he is well regarded by the local Porsche people, as is Rick. PCA people in the Pinehurst or Raleigh areas would have contact information for them.

All 3 would be about an hour or so away, depending on where in Fayetteville you are. Plenty of activities/events/drives take place between Raleigh and Pinehurst if you are interested.

What shop did you end up going with? I'm local, and I get my car services in Raleigh at west German garage. I have a friend who works there who gets me really good rates, who has worked on my last 3 cars dating back to 2005

I have not actually had any work done yet, but I am leaning towards European Performance.

The two in Raleigh I would recommend are European and Kannon.
Kannon can be reached at 919 878-0788 and European at 919 851-5084. They have both done exceptional work on our cars.
Lately, I have been using Kannon Best. He is self-employed and, as such, I find him very flexible when it comes to scheduling. One thing European has going for it is a great showroom and waiting area.

Good Luck, Gary

I can recommend European Performance in Raleigh highly.

Also, at the Leith Porsche dealer there is a great guy, Gary (I don't know his last name) an old-school tech who cut his teeth on the air cooled cars. I trust him implicitly.

I take my car to both places.

I forgot about Chuck Miller in Hillsborough, I have a friend who took all her cars (she and hubby have 3 race cars and one street car, all air-cooled, 3 of the 4 are long-hoods) to Chuck

I have not met him but hear he's really good also

I have also had good luck with Leith in the past- they've always been able to give me a loaner car, which helps justify the drive from Fayetteville.

Hi,

I live in Raleigh, know Ray very well. There are several. European Performance is a very good shop. Well run and honest. Tolga at the shop will help. If you want more, PM me and we can talk.

I have had several good service experiences (regular maintenance thankfully) with European Performance. A friend of mine uses them exclusively to race prep his GT3's. I have never heard anything negative about them.

I just talked to Chuck Miller, seems like a great guy with tons of experience. I like that he stores the cars also. I am headed to Afghanistan this summer and might leave my 356 with him while I am gone.

CPT Dooberhead, are you a 58 Pilot?

Thanks,
--Joe
