Default Tech Tactics East

Anyone going? I signed up for Sunday.

The date has been set for the third annual Tech Tactics East at the Porsche Cars North America site outside of Easton, Pa. Please mark your calendars for Feb. 23-24, 2013. The format will be the same as in years past. Our very special guest this year from Porsche AG is Tony Hatter, who is the Porsche designer extraordinaire. He led the design team for the 993,918 and new Cayman. We have a Dave Becker and Rolf Kittlitz from Porsche Cars North America, Charlie Burke from Bentley Publishing and Doug Brown from Michelin Tires. We will also have three PCA members as part of the program: Jim Newton from Automobile Associates, Mike Levitas from TPC, and John Paterek from Paterek Brothers. This will be John's 33rd consecutive appearance at Tech Tactics. We have also booked Larry Neely from ClearPlex which a product to protect your Porsche windshield. Continental breakfast, box lunches and a commemorative T-shirt are included in the registration fee of $50. Registration will open on Feb. 1, 2013 on motorsportreg.com.

Tech Tactics 2013

Tech Tactics is a day dedicated to all things Porsche related to Tech. From how to balance Weber carburetors for your 1970 Porsche 911S to understanding how your GTS Hybrid works. The event was born in 1980 in the heart of Zone One at the Harley Hotel north of Harford, CT. It quickly outgrew this facility and moved to the Springfield Sheraton where it resided for over twenty years. By the 1990’s it was the premier technical weekend for PCA with some renowned speakers; such as, Norbert Singer, Phil Hill, Derek Bell, and Brian Redman.

By 2007 attendance was dwindling and new venue was in order. The event was moved to the Farnbacher-Loles facility in Danbury, CT. This move regenerated interest in the event with over 250 attendees. With the demise of the F-L facility, we have moved again and have changed the direction slightly in terms of the format.

Tech Tactics 2013 will be hosted at the PCNA Training facility in Easton, PA. This facility is perfect for a “hands on“ type of event. This facility is used to train Porsche technicians on the intricacies of the new Porsches. It is equipped with the state of the art classrooms with lifts and drive train assemblies which will be available for our event,. Tech Tactics East will be held on February 24th and will be limited to 125 entrants. The day will consist of lectures by PCNA Field Specialists and members of the PCA Technical Committee.

When you register, look at the topics covered under each colored-coded class. If you pick RED, you will attend those classes. Since we want to keep the size of the classes manageable, switching classes will not be allowed. This will ensure an ideal experience for each 'student'. If the colored-coded class you wish to attend is sold out, you may get on a wait list or choose another color. Also consider attending on Saturday instead.

Levitas, Michael

TPCRacing, owned by Michael Levitas, has its roots in the IMSA Supercar Series of the late 1980’s and early 1990s, where team owner and driver Mike Levitas managed the turbocharger programs that gave the fire-breathing Nissan 300ZX, Mazda RX7 Twin Turbo, Lotus Turbo Esprit and Consulier GTPs their prodigious power.

By combining a lifetime of automotive enthusiasm, business experience and technical skill with advanced aeronautical training and certifications, Levitas has managed to extend the engineering of some of the most advanced and well-regarded machines in existence – Porsche race cars.

Since 2001, Michael has won 12 races in the Rolex Series, finished 2nd eight times, finished 3rd 10 times and racked up an additional 25 top-ten finishes. TPC was crowned Grand American SGS-class champions in 2004, a year in which Levitas’ three car team positively dominated the competition. At the 2006 Rolex 24 At Daytona, TPC broke through to its greatest achievement to date – winning the GT class of the famed 24-hour endurance race. Levitas personally transcended the duties of a typical team owner/driver, not only putting in impressive time behind the wheel but also acting as the team’s jack man, jacking each side of the car into the air during pit stops because of an onboard hydraulics failure.

Once you see the ClearPlex demo from Larry, look me up to do an order. I can set up a Group Buy for your group. I had a GB that just ended selling over 35 kits! You will love ClearPlex. Here are some pics of Larry actually training people how to install in SoCal. The Porsche Precut Kits are easy 30min DIY project!

I have done 2 road rallies, 2 Autocrosses, and a Track Day since installing ClearPlex on our shop car 4 months ago. NO chips, NO pits....amazing!

TheBen,

I use regular glass cleaner to clean it. Once a week you should use the ClearHD polish that comes with the install kit. This keeps ClearPlex conditioned and clear. It also is used to lubricate with washer blades so they don't scratch the ClearPlex windshield protection.

I do use the polish once a week. I track and autocross the car often. I know many people that rarely use the polish at all. I had mine for over 4 months with no wear, scratching, or hazing.

Also ask Doug from Michelin why they are not producing the Super Sport in stock OEM size for the C4S and Turbos 225/40R18 and 285/30R18.

This way you can end up with new oil every 3,660 miles and close to 5 cycles of oil supply by the time the recommended 15K miles maintenance service rolls around.

Next question?
