Air Cooled Toys

I was taking care of the brake master cylinder vent tube delete update, and I broke the drain nipple off of the fuel filler cup. I did it by pulling too hard on the old brake vent hose. which was tie-wrapped to the fuel overflow drain hose. These both route down behind the rear portion of the front fender liner.

So, I ordered a new "cup" (993.201.030.01) (Part number 8 on the first illustration) from Sunset Porsche and am attempting to install it. I removed the three nuts to the painted gas cap cover flap and the four screws holding the cup to the body, removed the screw to the pull-cable, the giant circlip holding the filler neck and all of the hose connections and it still wont come out.

I have also removed the hoses to part number 14 in the second illustration.

Is there a trick to removing this assembly?
