Default OT: the ad-bots think I'm gay.

Anyone else getting the banner ad at the top for "catch him and keep him?"
I didn't have a problem with it. But I think someone's ad targeting went awry...

What banner ads? It must be that add-on that I installed.

Yeah, you're right, I just disabled that add-on and sure enough...banner ads on this supposedly spam free Rennlist site.

Back to enable mode for that add-on.

Install an ad blocker and screw them all.

About 18 mos. ago there was a thread in OT or the P!gpen about jeans. EnigmaWmn posted a link to one of the high-end clothes stores in NYC with their designer jeans (and outrageous prices). I made the mistake of clicking on that link. For over a month after that I was getting these banner ads for metro-sexual products and was going WTF? Finally installed a Ad-blocker after that, no more problems.

Moral of the story, don't click on a EW link without protection.

I can always tell when my wife uses my laptop because I'm looking at shoe ads for the next 4 weeks. When she doesn't, it just car parts vendors and maybe some home improvement stuff....

You can prevent a lot of the targeted advertising by deleting the cookies stored in your browser. I have set mine up so that it deletes cookies everytime I close it. Only keeps cookies of favorite sites (such as this one) so that I don't have to log in all the time.

the ads that appear on mine are always related to recent searches or sites I've been to.

It could be worst. I get a ton of spam email for male enhancement products & ED meds. I don't need them.... really, I am fine. Quit looking at me that way.

I use search engines way more than the daily recommended average.
I don't get any ads, banners, etc.
Maybe ad-bots know I don't need anything?
