Default 959 rebody of a 993

Anyone know anything about this car?

It looks to be a 993 with a 959 rebody, perhaps even a 993 turbo judging by the sport seats. This looks by far to be the best 959 replica body I've ever seen, I'd even venture to guess that they may be real 959 panels.

I was told years ago by ***** from FVD that they did several 993/959 rebodies back in the mid 90's using real 959 body panels. Does anyone have any info on these cars? I have always wanted a 959 but wouldn't dare spend $500k on one, a 993 turbo based 959 would be very interesting though...

LOL. Your kit looks pretty accurate as well.

The first pic has 993 wiper stud spacing - the second one has pre-993 wiper stud spacing...

dnmnm - Just saw your signature. Holy cool car batman! AWESOME! Looks like a Canepa'ed version, is it? What color interior? Beautiful color. Love it. Curious how you think it compares to the 993 TS.

As for the OP, that does look like a very accurate body. Looks like different headlights. Turnsignals look right though, a common thing to botch on 959 replicas.

I have never heard of 993's being cosmetically converted to 959's. I would imagine the factoy panels would be extremely hard to get. Porsche did however, produce another dozen or so 959's in the early nineties from spares.

Would love to see more pictures.

Take care!

Personally, I'd not be caught in the phony version. While certainly not on the same par as a real 959, the 993, in and of itself, is a great car deserves more respect than to be made into something it isn't. JMHO.

I don't know anything about the re-body, but it certainly does look like a 993. You really have to study the two pictures to see the subtle differences, in the nose and rear wing for example; otherwise, it seems to be a high quality build.

dnmmm I noticed your 959 has two wing mirrors, they only had one from the factory right?

Also a 959 is on my bucket list so if you ever want to sell give me some notice so I can re-mortgage my house.

I still think this is the BEST 959 replica kit!

I love the look of the bigger wheels on the replica.

I agree. I used to lust after the 959...nowdays after seeing a few and spending a lot of time with the one that GM ownes. (or maybe *used to* own) The poor old Frau is dated. But cannot argue with the performance, Ja?

Here's a flock of 959s parked at the factories Werk 1 facility, Zuffenhausen, Germany in ‘2001... Many of these 959s were from owners in the Middle East as the cars are flown here for routine service. Oil money, must be nice – different anyway.

I’m with Ed Huges position , why denigrate the 993 or the 959 as they’re both achievements in their own right. Yeah, I get the body kit thang…..My .02,,, the 959 kit looks convincing though,
