Default 993 for RS America?

Should I get rid of my 993 for an '94 RS America?

It would depend on the mileage, condition, etc. of each car. Need more info.

I have driven both. The RS America is really something special and is in my opinion one of the best buys in Porsches. They are more tail happy than the 993's and require more skill to drive fast, which can be fun.
Drive them both and then make your decision. You will hopefully know which one feels right for you.

What options does the RSA have? Are you planning on driving the car or just holding on to it with that low mileage? What kind of 993 do you have?

IMHO, an RS America is one of the silliest purchases out there. You're paying an additional ~$15K for a manual steering rack that you can buy and install in a 964 C2 for $1K and have the same car.

PS - $80K for a 964! i.e., $50K for a manual rack....thought I'd heard it all....

I think you should keep you 993 and buy the RS America as an "investment"

no. I find the RSAs to be a bit overrated.

For $80k, I'd find a nice 993 turbo

I love an RSA, but I think 80 Grand is a bit rich. I agree, I'd rather have a 993 Turbo than a 'Murica.

The RSA has
EXTERIOR
Speed-dependent extendable rear spoiler
Halogen headlights
Heated windshield washer nozzles
INTERIOR
Leather covered steering wheel
Trip odometer
Pwr windows
Analog quartz clock
Cassette holder
MECHANICAL
115-amp alternator
Independent rear suspension w/aluminum alloy semi-trailing arms, self- stabilizing toe-characteristics
Anti-lock braking system
20.3 Gallon fuel tank
Brake pad wear indicator
Dual airbags Supplemental Restraint System

I won't drive it very often, once a month like my 993 C2S

The RSA had 4 options:

Sunroof
LSD
A/C
Stereo

The stripped-down versions are more valuable, especially the ones without a sunroof. If you are going to drive the car don't buy a 5K mile example unless you like burning money.

Haha once I read your post and thought about the rear spoiler, the dealer failed because it is a fixed rear spoiler. Good thing this isn't Beachwood!

I recently bought an RSA so I am definitely a fan, but that price seems completely unrealistic. I came across several low mileage, very clean, similarly optioned RSAs around for $30k less than that.
