Default 993's and avants!

I think there might be a few people on here that rock avants as a daily/winter machine. Or anyone that has owned a wagon in the past. Post your pics here....

993......

Avant......

Avant is a great car. I had a 2001, oil sludge issue took out the 1.8 Turbo at 41k miles. Audi stepped up with a brand new engine turbo the works. Will own another someday.

Need to add the Avant to my list below, not sure how I forgot about it!

We had an Avant but sold it for a new S4 sedan. And yeah, we're really pissed that Audi isn't giving us the S4 Avant anymore.

In the last 15 years, my wife and I have owned 9 Audis (a 4000 quattro, a B5 S4 (replaced by my 993), three B5 A4s, one B7 A4, two A6s and a Q7). Three were Avants. I'm a believer.

My next Avant will be a B6 or B7 S4 - hopefully in the next few months.

The A4 Avant shown below is one of my all-time favorite cars (my wife's daily for a few years), but it was replaced by the Q7 shown below (my wife's call - she loves it, but I do not):

The recent addition to the garage:

I'm slowly adjusting to modern luxuries, as my prior DD was a 1993 Honda Civic that I purchased new when I was in college.

I drove a MY95.5 Audi UrS6 avant for 10 years as a dailey driver....

The new MY12 Audi A6 Avant is beatutiful,,,, and I'd order one tomorrow - if only Audi USA would bring this car here. N. America luv's the SUV body style. Germany its kombi's...

I have a few pic'c of the ole S6 wagon that I'll drag out for this post, 993tt brakes, RS2 mods, etc. Stealth... way-back 3rd row kids seat... sippy cups and all! Varooom, that RS2 mod'd S6 wagon could move..

No pics but we were long-time owners of a '99 A6 Avant and then traded for new '09 A4 Avant September '08 (43K miles ago). The Avant is a 365 DD as is my 993.

Love my 4.2 litre n/a S4 Avant, especially when long-hauling at high speed through France to take the family Alpine Skiing.

Keep thinking of selling it before coming back to my senses when it comes to knowing what could ever replace it.

To date my wife's favorite car she had was an A6 Avant from many years ago. That turned into a Volvo V70 XC, then an XC70, and then another. When the XC70 was "all used up", we shied away from the new design and found a "last of the great" 2007s with 20k and CPO.

With all the stuff we move around from place to place, the boxy Volvo ended up being the best. So today the autos in the household are: 1997 C2S, 2005 330i, and 2007 XC70.

Not sure what will be next, maybe another A6 Avant. Oh wait, did Audi discontinue the larger wagon in the US just like BMW did?!?

Wagon's rule. Go over to Europe and they are all over the place which means selecting one (new or used) is easy. In the USA there has been a steady decline in available models - obviously due to demand or lack thereof. For me this is a problem because I want a high(er) performance, stick shift manual, wagon - I understand I am definitely in the minority. Hen's teeth are easier to find.
Subaru cut the GT wagon, Audi cut the S4 Avant and never brought over the RS4 Avant which is what I was looking for. Same for the RS6 and BMW did not bring over the M5 wagon.
I know my demands are tough and someday I am going to have to change one or more of my criteria. Until then I am just going to hope the USA suddenly starts demanding hundreds of thousands of wagons (!) and then the market will respond. Sorry for the rant...

2005.5 B7 S4 Avant - 140K miles and counting...
