How do you replace felt trim around sunroof?

Take a look at the second post on this thread... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...-87-911-a.html ...You may want to consider replacing both felt pieces at the same time as the difference between the old and new pieces can be pretty significant.

i followed this one.. and it worked out great... http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti...oof_repair.htm
A few reconditions..
Make sure to photograph the ends with the roof closed and open. This will help you align the felt. It really does just sort drop down at the ends.
I also used a small stiff brush. The plumbing ones with the metal handle. I cut it down so only maybe 1/4" is left. I used the 3M black. A little at a time, sine you should only be glueing a few inches at a time.
I taped everything up, but to be honest, if you are pretty careful, the tape can actually be an issue. As you can, I actually removed the tape on the side that I was working on once I started doing it, But thats users choice. I also had a towel on top of the car, and taped it down so it would not fly away.
Do the roof itself inside.
Make sure that you align the top of the felt a little above the edge if the roof, like a 1/32. This way it will have that nice bump when its closed.
As you can see in the pic, I aligned everything and taped into place (rt side), every few inches so that the ends would be equal. Then starting from the middle, worked the left, then right side.
Good luck...

I will only be replacing seals, sunroof works fine. Do I need to disconnect motor to remove roof?
How do I snap clips back on headliner when I'm ready to put it back on? Do they just snap back on?
thanks

The liner snaps out and snaps back in. You can replace the front seal without taking the sunroof out, but must remove the sunroof to replace the rear. You do not have to disconnect any of the cables, sliders, channels or motor. Just snap the liner out per the DIY and slide it back into the roof, then remove the roof panel from the the brackets per the order prescribed in the DIY, R&R the seal(s), let the adhesive set up and then re-install everything in reverse order. It's tedious, but not particularly difficult.

When I did mine, the white tube was visible before I installed it, but once the seals were shaped to fit the opening and glued in place, there was no need to trim it. I would wait and see what it looks like once it's installed. I don't think it will cause a problem to trim it if it protrudes.

Do not trim anything. The felt should bend downwards. Take a look at your current setup. You will notice a very nice "X" over where the back and front meets. Do try to make sure that they are even though.
Also, I would close the roof as soon as you are done with all the gaskets. The pressure will help set the felt in place.

Not sure which "x" you are referring to, please advise. I cannot look at current setup because I had to rip off the rear one because I found it basically hanging off one day.
BTW I just replaced a clutch on my 944 DE car with no issues!

Don't overthink this. Just follow to DIY as it is written and you'll be fine (You have looked at the DIY link haven't you?)
