Chipping clear coat brake calipers...
I just noticed some small chipping of my brake calipers clear coat.
The red paint seems fine- just some areas of clear coat that flaked off.
As a quick solution can i used touch up paint clear coat to stop this?

Brake fluid spill ( bleeding the brakes )is the usual culprit for eating the clear coat . All that is needed is clean the calibers and use a spay can of clear coat and they will look like new again .

I had the same issue all around. I sanded the chipping clear to smooth it out a bit and hit it with high temp clear. Looks much better. Maybe not perfect, but I don't have a show car.

consider sanding the affected areas with 1500 - 2000 grit sandpaper prior to re-coating with clear
or
try clear nail polish.

I did what quadcammer did. Cleaned the calipers, picked off as much of the chipping as possible, and coated with a VHT clear coat. The new clear coat will get under the existing clear coat and it will actually give you a pretty good finish (of course until you're twelve inches away).

Had the same thing happen to my red calipers. I chipped off as much of the peeling clear coat as I could, masked the calipers and sprayed on 4-5 coats of high temp caliper clear coat. they look as good as new and after a year they are still looking good.

Btw the best thing I used to clean the calibers was brake fluid because I figured it took some clear coat off might as well take the rest off and start fresh . It worked for me . Very simple to do take the wheel off take a rag soak with brake fluid and wash the caliber let it penetrate as long as you can then wash with soap n water wipe . Then stuff rags around the caliber for overspray and then just respray with clear coat . Mine came out great .
