If you really want a laugh....

A friend of mine, who also happens to be a gifted writer, got fed up with the scammers. He decided to do something about it.

So, he embarked on a year-long relationship with some Nigerian scammers via e-mail. He assumed the identity of a gay millionaire living in Florida with his cats, Mr. Snickers and Jo Jo The Dancing Clown, and strung these scammers along for months and months. He actually took all the e-mails and made it into a play that has been a huge hit and he's been touring the country with it. Very, very funny.

If you've ever had to deal with these scammers or just want a chuckle, check out the e-mails etc, at www.spamscamscam.com

On Friday, August 14, 2009, Colonial Bank, Montgomery, AL was closed by the Alabama State Banking Department, and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) was named Receiver. No advance notice is given to the public when a financial institution is closed.

All deposit accounts have been transferred to Branch Banking and Trust Company, (BB&T), Winston-Salem, NC ("assuming institution") and will be available immediately. The former Colonial Bank locations will reopen as branches of BB&T. Each location will operate by the same schedule it did prior to this transaction.

Checks that were drawn on Colonial Bank that did not clear before the institution closed will be honored as long as there are sufficient funds in the account. For more information on deposit insurance, you may speak to an FDIC representative regarding deposit insurance by calling 1-800-405-8739 or visit EDIE, the FDIC's Electronic Deposit Insurance Estimator.

It's gotta be legit - Sara (Sarah) spent 1 Euro on the stamp alone!

If this falls through, are you willing to hold your price? I think that they would look RAD on my P-car. However, I installed a "Continental" kit on the back, so I'm really looking for 5 (I'll gladly pay the extra $1750!)

I have a check for $12,000 that I can send, just deduct your share and send me the difference.

There are forums and hobbiests dedicated to playing with these people. It is called scam baiting, good times. I have a gmail account and bait them for fun as well.

If you have the time to read this one, it is crazy! You will be glad you did!

Um, seems legit...

Sarah probably asked her buddy, Richard Barry, to send her a check from the USA so she can send it from London back to ilko in the USA...

Hi There

I live not soooo far from Lordship Lane where the buyer puports to be. Actually that postcode is for a different address (Archdale Road), but close to Lordship Lane. Looking at streetview on Google 45 Lordship Lane looks to be a flat above a retail shop.

I am not sure how that helps!

While I have no knowledge of the purchaser, I watch a similar type story on the news here last week. An unsuspecting guy accepted a cashiers check and had it verified good by his bank before depositing to his account. The check was determined to be a fraud after the bank transferred the money out of country and now the poor guy is stuck owing his bank thousands. The bank told the news problem solver that it was ultimately the depositor's responsibility for the legitimacy of the cashiers check even after they checked it out.

That address is a Gift Shop in south east london

If you copy that address in to google maps and click on the little yellow man icon it will show you the street and the store and a little VW Polo parked out side

His scam baiter character, Rev Bob johnson, was good .... but the sting delivered by Rev Hoobit Yerkokof was hilarious ......
