993 RSR Racecar build...
Before I start this I owe a MOUNTAIN of thanks to these two guys for the all the advise they have given me on this thing....
Geoffrey Ring http://www.racetek-engineering.com/
Joel Reiser http://www.reiser-technik.com/
Some may remember at the end of 2006 an 993 RSR build "in a box" came up on ebay. Well I was they guy that bought it and have spent that last two years building this thing. ...and we're not just talking 3-4 hours a week. This was way more than I bargained for. It's coming along well so I figured I'd start a thread.
Basically the pic below is what I started with (actually I had already done some cage mods), and have done from there....
Spend first half of 2007 learning what a 993 is and what all these parts were as I'm a 930 guy. The back half of 2007 was spent hanging the body and doing body work. Few pics shown in the thread below.

Al,
That's my car. Joe and I exchanged many an e-mail since we were both working on our cars at the same time. Well, I should say, I was having work done. Joe gets credit for doing it himself.

A little wiring.... Essentally ran all the wiring in the car except the motor harness (was luckey enough to pick up a used custom motec one). About 160 feet of wire, ~25 of those little white plastic harness straps, with majority of them fastened via riv-nuts. All wires with both ends labeled (got a few OCD comments on that) and used toggle breakers and three push/pull breakers, therefor not fuses.
Air jack plumbing... I was actually surprised how easy it was to bend the alum tubing with a simple hand bending tool and summit racing sells a simple 37 degree flaring tool for flaring to AN fittings.

Yes, I've tried to pay attention to detail and test things out as I went, but there's always something taken for granted that bites ya... more on that later.
Few more electrical things... Relay board that connects into the harness from the front and M48. Couldn't really figure out what to do about a cover so I made one out of CF (cut squares and fiberglassed inside corners to hold together), put some tabs on, notches in the sides for the harness to go through (naturally with some plastic edging to protect from cutting wires) and riv-nuts in the deck plate to connect to. ...need to work on those relay labels
The other thing I did on the relay board is put opposite male/female spade connectors on the connections to the relay contactor so if you want to short pass relay you just unplug the in/out and they will plug together. ...used that many times for testing so far.
Here's another thing I came by after a few tries at making a TPS sensor for the throttle body (yea, no itb's). I was just about at the point to use string pot until I found this item that Clewett Engr makes. ...nice little setup.
