As to how the front end got so messed up... A second hand source said that one of those huge 1" thick 4x8 steel panels construction companies use to cover trenches... somehow caught the underside of the front suspension with the car crossing it because the panel was poking up too high at an angle.
With the car at some decent speed the huge iron panel basically just ripped the bumper off and shoved the front end out under the car. Ugly.

17 Riviera Blue Coupes...really???
...well, here's one. I drove it across the country from Santa Fe to Sanibel, FL a few months ago. Last week, I said goodbye to my 2006 Mexico Blue 997S, a great car in it's own right. This picture is from years ago when they were together in New Mexico and the 993 was still owned by my friend Bill.
