The post showing the C4 at 5.3 seconds to 60 and the C4S at 5.0 is comparing the lower power '95 motor to the '96 and later motor so of course there's a difference. If you get a '96 C4 it should be just as fast (if not faster due to the lower weight and lower CD) than a C4S. I got a C4 because I'm one of the few people who actually prefers the narrower car (not to mention the $20K lower purchase price). The C4S does has a better suspension but you can fix the C4 with a ROW M030 setup for a fraction of the price difference. The C4S does have bigger brakes but that is less about shorter braking distance and more about reduced brake fade but I can say that I've never felt brake fade in my C4 in numerous track days on a track that is pretty hard on brakes (Blackhawk Farms in norther Illinois). I say get a '96 C4, upgrade the suspension and save enough to buy a Honda Civic.

Oh, and my '97 4S, pimped out w/ $30K in options, was a bit less than $40K.......show me sub-$20K narrow bodies and I'll buy a bigger warehouse to store them all.

I don't think the deal you got is typical. When I bought mine most C4S's were going for $50K+ and I don't think that's changed much today.

It was a 100K mile car sitting at a used car lot in San Rafael with an asking price of $42K in September '04. All I can say is that, as usual, cash talks. I guess he'd had enough of financing falling through, and ever little **** nitpicker wondering why there a scratch in the spare tire area.

Two owners, every single receipt, and a full top end/clutch @ 75K for the obvious reason. It was no screaming deal at the time, and..............what's it worth today? Don't care because I've yet to see a similar heavily optioned "driver" pop up for what I care to pay for a car that sits 250 days of the year.

Hi Dave,

I got a 993 C4 in the end, are you going to the meeting on Sunday?

I work for RBS and often go for a smoke outside WH Smiths

Cheers

Sunil

Hi Sunil,

Excellent choice though I'm a little biased... I cannot make Sunday as my wife is having a spa day at Stoke Park so I'm looking after the kids. Are you doing the Ace on Saturday morning?

I'm at ITV now, on Grays Inn Road, so I often walk down through Shoe Lane at lunchtime.

Cheers,

David
