Talking Rufus inches closer to completion

As you can see... I'm getting pretty desperate to post some progress pictures of Rufus. Yesterday evening, he was inside the paint booth. Here he is in the early afternoon:

That looks familiar. Hope Rufus will be home real soon.

Steve,

I know the feelings... looking good and hope to meet Rufus soon. BTW, looks like you filled in the washer holes... I wished I would have thought of that.... since I don't even know how to turn the washers on.

Tony,

look on your wiper arm (right of steering wheel), I think you push it forward for the light washers. In any case, there is a picture on the stick for it.

Thanks everyone. I'm hoping to actually be driving Rufus by mid-week... and that's two weeks behind schedule! Yes Tony, no washer nozzles. I prefer the cleaner look. If I had ordered this car new it would be rear-wiper delete, sunroof delete, and sport seats. Oh well... little by little I suppose.

Princeton,

Coming from you with your amazing car... thanks. Talk about badass....

Dan,

There was lots of work to be done. The tow company dropped a 40 pound tow-hook on the roof (of the Ruf), and dented the sunroof and roof panel. The cowl had been poorly painted before, and lots of rock chips on the hood and fenders. All of that is being redone. The front Ruf bumper was shipped in a box with the car... it had been damaged and removed from the car, so it needed quite a bit of work. The rear Ruf bumper is new. The driver-side door stop had actually ripped out of the door jam, so that was welded and repaired. I haven't seen the bill, but the estimate was $3750. Some of that is covered by the trucking company. The rest is coming out of my kids' college fund.

I'm anxious to get my car back and meet up with my buddies!

Steve, how is the quality of your CTR2 front ? I got one direct from RUF and the quality is frankly awful. Also problematic to fit in many ways ... nothing fits !

Would be interested in your experience - cheers, Maurice.

Maurice,

The Ruf front bumper needed some repairs at the attachment points... probably due to the concrete parking stop that the previous owner ran into. I know the body shop spent a lot of hours prepping that bumper to fit... in their words "we're doing our best, but its not a factory bumper fit". The body shop is having no issues on the rear bumper, except for a torn attachment hole (easily repaired). I have a lot of confidence in this body shop (unfortunately, they've done some work for me in the past), and we'll see how it looks when its all reassembled. My instructions to them were basically... "damn the cost, do it right". Do you have any pictures of your front bumper? Is it on the car? What sort of problems are you having?

Steve -

Congrats on the progress . . . even if its been slower than you hoped. It won't be long now.

Blemish in fglass LHS

Reflections show ripple in front - after long prep ...

Faint reflection of broomstick ! above front

No instructions were supplied despite assurances and statements of 'Porsche quality. As the fibreglass is much thicker than the PU, indicators / foglights don't fit too well, under-bumper must be cut etc. None of the mounting edges were cut correctly ... could go on and on !

Good Luck ! cheers, Maurice
