long shot... anyone want to trade their 993 cab for Beck 550 spyder?
Hey all
I have a 2000 Beck 550 spyder, which is quite a special car. I am in the process of some upgrades, and I think I may have outgrown the car - I have a young family, and can never get time alone to drive it (2 seater of course). A 993 cab would be perfect for me and my family - I am looking to see if anyone out there wants to trade.
This 550 was featured in Kit car mag, as it has custom 962 style rear suspension, coil over front suspension, Porsche 911 brakes, a Porsche 914 2.5L 180hp motor, Porsche side shift 901 5 speed, Fuchs wheels, CNC dual master cyl brakes with cabin adjustable bias, a Brandwood cable shifter, and a work of art for an exhaust. I have over 40K in this car, and it has about 100 miles. It is registered in CT...
This car would sell for close to 30K to the right buyer. The right buyer is someone that wants to tinker and refine this car and has the time and energy to see it through.
I'll post a follow-up with picture links. Please PM me if you have any interest.

That looks like a sweet 550. Welcome to the 993 board! I also hope that should you decide to stick around here to read the Rennlist bylaws concerning posting "for sale ads"

Heh... I may lose my nerve too... I put my money down in 1999, been working on this car for a while... Now my kids scream whenever I leave in it... I had to roll it out of the garage last fall so as not to wake them

Stock the Beck is most like the original, and the Vintage improves it a bit with some more modern (yet still swing axle) rear suspension. My car was completely rebuilt from the firewall back (you can actually unbold the rear half of the car) and features some radically adjustable 962 style pushrod inboard suspension.

Actually hiding might not be the correct definition in my case. What you do is merely park the car out on street (across the street) from your house. Make sure no one from your house sees you get in or out of the car. Since it will likely be some Porsche, your family will likely ask about it and you say, "I do not know the people across the street must have bought a Porsche!". You can further this deception by getting your friend across the street to park it in their driveway, even having them drive it when your family see it. You can get away with for a while until the DMV sends stuff to your house, until you want to do mods on the car yourself, or you want to wash it, but by then it is too late. Then you are in the dog house for a long time! It really does not work ;-((

Actually hiding might.....
Well - Jen would NEVER believe that - the neighbor across the street is the service manager for the local Honda Dealership!!! AND - the neighbors to the right of us - own two clapped-out 80's vintage pickup trucks...
Hmmm...
