You really don't need to worry about plugs on a 4K engine. If you have even minimal DIY skills you can change them yourself in a couple of hours. And you don't need cabin filters.

These cars are bullet proof. I'd buy that car and take it in for the full 4 yr 40,000 mile service and ask them to look for any potential problems. Then I would drive and enjoy it and have it serviced every year or 10,000 miles just like the book says.

Probably never ever have a problem doing it that way.

I'd still get a PPI...an owner will always testify their used car is better than it is...case in point...I was looking at an 88...I know the owner...he swore the engine was good...I had a PPI done...it failed leak down by a significant margin...needed complete rebuild ($20K)...he wouldn't budge on price and refused to believe the inspection report...I didn't buy the car...

I get it...this is way different than an 88 air cooled...however, the lesson is the same...take it to the dealer and pay to have them go over it...use their report as piece of mind and credible bargaining leverage to get whatever mnx negotiated into the deal...

Price seems high for a non CPO. What was the original MSRP? Although a lot more miles, I picked up my '13 CS with two year CPO for $77k in October, original MSRP $129,000.

Would love to know your thoughts on this purchase:
Here's where i stand on this purchase right now. There are 2014 models that are not as clean with 20,000 miles give or take going for around $80k - 82k. The one I am considering is about same price but 1 year older but less miles. None CPO though.

This is the car:

Privately sold 2013 Carrera S black on black $79,450 FIRM (plus $6k in taxes)
$118k sticker
3,400 miles (super clean "perfect")
OPTIONS:
Prem package with 14 way seats
sport chrono package
Bose audio package
PASM sport suspension
Sport exhause system
PDK
20" Carrera classic wheel
sunroof in glass
sport design steering wheel

NO WARRANTY.
Has last receipt for oil change 1 year ago at 3152 miles. It shows that he checked a TPMS warning light (tire pressure?) and was given a cursory inspection (brakes, belts, hoses, leaks, underbody for damage, checked TPMS, battery, wipers, driveshaft, axles) that came up clean. (It only had 3k miles.) Now it has 400 more miles. Oil was changed again 4 months ago. He's a bit of a car collector and has several low mile cars on hand.

Pretty modestly optioned car, my '13 listed for $11k more and I paid $2500 less with a 2 year CPO (mine had 25k miles though). Post in the hot for sale thread if you want more input.

Thanks, saeyedoc. Seller is believes the 3400 miles is worth an extra $5k. May be moot anyway: I am torn between manual or PDK (it has PDK). Moreover, i hear mixed opinions on the 7-speed manual. Maybe I should just go for an older air cooled and call it a day.

If you buy a CPO 14 with 20-30000 miles on it for about the same relative price, you will be better off. The warranty goes out to 100000 CPO, so 20-30k is nothing in the overall scheme.

Two years on top of what's left in the original warranty. For a '14, it will probably have some left.

i would also recommend at test drive of at least 1 hour, any obvious gremlins may surface, even if you are not a mechanic most people will notice something that doesnt feel right, such as the steering wheel vibrates at 70 mph, or vibration in brake pedal under firm braking, or odd sounds, if it doesnt feel right it probably isn't

No decisions yet. This is still the best one i have found:
Privately sold 2013 Carrera S black on black $79,450 FIRM (plus $6k in taxes)
$118k sticker
3,400 miles (super clean "perfect")
OPTIONS:
Prem package with 14 way seats
sport chrono package
Bose audio package
PASM sport suspension
Sport exhaust system
PDK
20" Carrera classic wheel
sunroof in glass
sport design steering wheel

For this price what other options would you like to see in this list?

Hurdles for me are that it is 300 miles away and i am not willing to deal with finding a good mechanic to inspect that far away. No warranty. And the nagging feeling I could find one closer by that is a year newer (2014) for around the same price.
