I've been fortunate enough to drive Stelvio Pass in Italy in a Porsche on two occasions; once in a 997.2 C4S cabriolet 6MT, and once in a 991.1 C4S cabriolet PDK. It's quite an experience. I snapped this photo with my iPhone while we were stopped at the top for lunch.

I agree, but your passenger might throw up on some of the curves. Traffic (as in many places) ruins the fun though - few places to pass in the first 30 minutes.

I've been on many great roads, but I've only had the 911 for a handful of months, so my experiences so far are limited, but here are my top 2 so far:

San Diego:
Sunrise Highway - Exiting from exiting from the 8FWY and headed north through Mt. Laguna and down to 79.

Japatul Valley Road / RTE 79 - exiting from the 8FWY and headed north through Julian.

Best time to drive both roads is 8AM on a weekday from Spring through Fall. Typically the roads are empty during that time.

Sunrise Hwy video I did a while back:

Highway 3A in southern British Columbia north from Creston to Kootenay Bay Ferry terminal. Not too busy on week days, avoid it on any long weekends, too many RVs. It runs mostly along the east shore of Kootenay Lake. Not many police, in fact very rare to see any, but watch out as BC does have an Immediate Impound Law, if you are caught going 40 KPH over the posted limit. The road is mostly posted at 80 KPH in the south sections and 60 up north, but keeping the speeds at just below 120/100 you can still have a good bit of fun.

So many good roads in France/Italy/Spain. But I do like the Col de Turini. First pic is the wife with a small section of the road in the background, she had just driven that section. We share our driving vacations about 50/50, one will drive the morning the other the afternoon. The second pic is a few Porsche friends at a lunch break. It was a very international group that trip, folks from the USA, Canada, South Africa, Indonesia, Lebanon, and Germany.

One of the days had the Route Napoleon, we have driven it before, but it is always good fun to go back to a nice driving road. It was October so not much traffic to deal with.

PCH is definitely > 101. 49 along the Feather river in Norcal is also great, same with 120 through Yosemite (gets busy though). Hwy 20 in the north cascades in WA is a great drive too.

People really need to be clear about what "PCH" is -- to the out-of-stater, it's one highway. To Californians, there is a HUGE difference between Hwy 1 in Mendocino County or Big Sur than in L.A. County.

And don't forget that "101" is BEAUTIFUL in Humboldt County -- driving through the redwood state parks is something not to be missed.

The Sea to Sky is such a great drive.
Take your golf clubs with you and head up to Whistler early mid-week and there's hardly any traffic. For the Olympics, they made most of the road two lanes, so you can really cruise now.

True... through the redwoods you want to hop off 101 and take the old redwood highway for some awesome twisties right next to huge trees. Highway 36 has some great twisties through the trees too, sometimes makes the PSE almost as loud as in a tunnel.

Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park. You can't go very fast (legally) but the views are amazing!

I did 101 through Oregon and Northern Cali and it was great but traffic at times.
I found this other stretch of two lane heading out of Adin, Cali that was incredible. Kind of bumpy in places but pretty much deserted for many miles so I was able to up the speed a lot and have some fun. This in NE California and feels like the middle of nowhere. Just loved letting the 911 go some and just feeling how the car was built exactly for that kind of driving.
