GT3-no wing and with a rear seat option. Interested?

Teasing, I know, but if this car were available I am curious how many of us would be a buyer. I saw one of the interviews with AP who said something to the effect, that if you want the car for track use and fast lap times go PDK, but for shear driving enjoyment (and I assume he means not on the track) go with the manual. The latter would describe my use of this car. I'm sure Porsche reads these forums, so my question again, how many would be interested in this car? Me first

I could do without the wing and the rear seats. With the "weight savings", they could then add back the ability to get leather heated/ventilated seats. Would also have to allow 5 bolt wheels for me to want one.
Assuming that's not all going to happen, I'm pretty happy sticking with my upcoming Targa 4S with the Powerkit Package that includes rear axle steering.
Of course, buying a Targa pretty much makes me a GT cruiser not-a-GT3-guy anyhow, I suppose.
Hell, a base 991 is probably 20X the car I could handle properly.

After about a year of 991.1 ownership, I basically found the rear seats to be pretty useless. Maybe once or twice I managed to squeeze some grown ups in there for some sub 10min drive/drop-off, but other than that, it's just a space I throw stuff into - does not need to be a wannabe seat -- so, completely ok w no rear seats.

I put my kids in the rear seats all the time, if I didn't need them I'd just get a 570S.

No, not even close.
GTS still has sub 8,000 RPM redline, 7 speed manual or normal PDK, and stock suspension.
.2 GT3 has 9,000 RPM 4.0 liter, the R's 6 speed manual or PDK S, plus the GT3 suspension.
Big difference.

GT-3 without the wing is not a GT3 as far as I am concerned (I'd take either, though)

I'd be interested, the lack or rear wing would maybe step on the R's toes too much for Porsche which is unfortunate because it's the wing that make's it a little too extreme for me.
Back seats would also be a must for myself as I can't strap the kids to the roof no matter how much they'd enjoy it
I'd get it in the awesome 'crayon' colour, I've spec'd it actually http://www.porsche-code.com/PJNHSNX9 just throw some back seats in it, add the 911R engine cover on there & ditch the spoiler; I'd trade in my current (only just got the other week) Carrera S in a heartbeat

I really didn't know that Thanks for filling me in.
I'll go read the .2 GT3 thread now ..

Point I was trying to make was regarding the clipped wing and rear seats not fitting the GT narrative. If you're looking for that experience, the GTS would be as close as you're going to get.

On a more serious note, I'd consider a "street" wingless "street" version GT3, as big of a misnomer as it is...

There's a bit of precedent:
M471 Lightweight 2.7 Carrera RS:
Lighweight plastic bumpers, rubber hood catches, many of the 911S interior luxuries removed, Glaverbel extra-thin glass.
M472 Touring 27 Carrera RS:
Regular 911S interior swag, standard bumpers, standard hood latches, about 100kg heavier, but still getting the 210hp 2.7, the suspension and brakes, etc.
Yes, both models have the ducktail. But my point is, they "robbed" the Lightweight of it's super weightsavings Motorsports bits in order to make it a bit more usable as a street car, thus compromising it a little as a track car. That sounds like what the R is today, or what a wingless GT3 would be. I approve.

I kinda, maybe, figured you know, Might know the difference.
Yeah, it's not a GT car. Neither is the R, if you are defining a GT car as having a big wing and being track focused. So what is the R? The ultimate driver focused non-track 911? Seems to me that a wingless GT3 with a rear seat would be a baby R. As your I said, Porsche has precedence....didn't the 959 Komfort have rear seats? Kinda fits that mold too. But for me, the car described above deserves to be built. Maybe it needs a different moniker. But I don't care if you called it a Carrera GTS +++ or a 911 R lite, I'd buy it.

The .2 GT3 Intro thread on the GT3 forum has 78K views in 4 days. Says something about where the passion is. I've never seen anything like it. The .2 GTS gets announced a month ago or so and now shown for the first time at the same Geneva show and its crickets.
I'd like to do some reorganizing of the product line!
