Anyone think that the clutch pedal is very light? Seems much lighter than my 997, Turbo, and (of course) GT3.

Default I can't speak to previous comparisons, but..

I have noticed one quirky thing about the clutch. In normal daily driving, I find that I need to feather the clutch a very little bit in the 1-2 shift. A normal clutch dump in these driving conditions seem to give me a little bump/jerk sensation. Is that just me? I find in aggressive driving, the clutch delivery is just fine. Also, it took me a few miles to figure out the 2-3 shift. The shifting gate seems close to me. Initially I was taking the shift a bit too far to the right. Now it just feels natural.

Welcome to the 7MT Cab club! Pretty damn rare, it was very hard to find what I wanted.

Congrats!

Nice looking car, (Looks just like mine). To me the MT and Cab make the car the reason I want to drive it. Best thing I've ever done to any car I've owned was installing the "Smart Top" module from Mods4cars. $450, easy to install and works flawlessly. Come out of a restaurant, hit your FOB 3 times and by the time you reach the car the top and windows are down ready to drive away. My car is going in for some service tomorrow so I disconnected the module so they wouldn't blame it. After driving the car with the top in "factory mode", it reconfirmed my feeling.

No, it's not just you. In my 2012.5, I can confirm this! I've learned to feather the clutch slightly when going from 1 - 2 every time.

So if you get SC then it always rev matches for you when you shift? You can't turn off rev matching?

Default Rev Match

I believe (after only 2 days of ownership, for what its worth), that rev match on the 7MT is only active when the sport plus mode is selected. Sport plus is available on cars with sport chrono option, but can be added to non SC cars with the switch on center console, but no chrono "lump" on the dash.
If I am mistaken, please correct me, thanks! In any case, I love the rev match feature, and always will engage sport plus function.

I don't know if it is different in the 991.1 vs the 991.2, but in the 991.2, rev-matching occurs in Sport mode. And I like the rev-matching in the poor man's PDK.

Rev matching is only available with the sport chron package. As of today, it cannot be added to a non-chrono car. I just took delivery of my MT CS last week and asked that question specifically. It could be added down the road, but I believe a sensor is required in the shift gate. I had rev matching in my Cayman S and moving the shifter is what triggered the "blip".

George, I did the same thing. I pick mine up in 2 weeks.

Long live the MT!

My manual 991.2 Carrera does not rev-match when "Sport" button is on. I was told by the dealer that is only functional when the Sport Chrono package is present... therefore I do not have the Sport Plus mode. Fwiw I heel & toe anyway.

FWIW GT4 comes with sport button regardless of whether you get sport chrono.

I look at it the way people look at single speed bikes - sure part of the appeal of SS bikes is less weight, complexity and noise...but it's also that LACK of the option to change gears.

Sometimes not having an option right there is a good thing. Depends on your personality.

That said - I suspect sports chrono makes a real difference in resale. Of course if you were worried about resale, you'd not get manual in the first place so it's probably a moot point.
