I think CPO follows the car but you might double check with the dealer.

Not sure about filling about paperwork or not but definitely transferable. See below:

It says "can be transferred" ???

Perhaps calling PCNA could help clarify.

CPO is an extended warranty on the car not the driver. If the car is warrantied till 2019 it is stated in your paperwork and the new owner gets that.

The CPO is in the dealer system by VIN #. No paperwork needed.

I have read that the CPO will transfer only for a Porsche dealer sale or a private party sale. Meaning if it was sold to a subsequent owner by a non Porsche dealer then CPO is void. I cannot confirm this is true, I'm only stating what I have read on the forum. If you bought it from a private party then you should be all set.

All the new owner must do is look in the owner's manual for a perforated postcard that notifies PCNA that the ownership has been transferred and to whom. My 2013 got transferred very easily. I have called the new owner and he tells me his ownership is recognized by PCNA.

I bought 2 preowned cars with extended warranty before. When your car is CPO, the warranty will go with the car so you don't have to fill out any paperworks. However, if you want the warranty to be in your name, yes, that can be done easily. It was a BMW for me and I brought the car in a few times for things, they had never asked a single question. My 2nd one was an Audi, the previous owner did not buy it CPO from an Audi dealer. He got it from a privately owned dealership and purchased extended warranty from a 3rd party (which was part of the sale that was carried out by the dealer). This one, you definitely want to transfer it to your name just to make things easier as whenever you need work done, they will ask for owner (whoever on the warranty) information. In my case, the previous owner was very cool. He and I stayed in contact for a while so I didn't feel the need to transfer the warranty over to my name. In case I needed anything, I could just send him a text and he will confirm his info with the dealer for me.

Whenever you buy a used Porsche, CPO or not, call PCNA and pass them your contact info. This is helpful for recalls, etc.

I called PCNA and the dealer both. There is no paperwork or card. Doesn't matter if you bought from a third party dealer or private party. CPO goes with the VIN #.

Really?? Not to argue, but I've bought and sold several CPO Porsches and have always been told, and I believe read, that the warranty is on the vehicle but transfer only applies to private party and authorized Porsche dealer sales. Once that chain is broken, CPO is no longer in force. Am I mistaken??

I think STG should make his answer as a sticky:

I am selling a car private sale, so I emailed PCNA to get the definitive answer on CPO warranty transferability. Here is what I received from PCNA:

Thank you for reaching out to us with your inquiry. Although we are sorry to hear that you will no longer be the owner of your Panamera 4, we are excited to welcome a new member to the Porsche family.

Once a vehicle is Certified Pre-Owned by an authorized Porsche dealership, in order for the CPO warranty to remain, the vehicle can only be sold through an authorized Porsche dealership or through private sale. If the vehicle is or was ever sold to an unauthorized dealer or broker at any time, the warranty would be void. The best way to confirm your warranty, would be to speak with your local authorized Porsche dealership service department.

We can assist with updating ownership information for the subsequent owner, if they'd like to contact us. As far as warranty transfer, as long as the necessary requirements are met for the CPO warranty, then the warranty will follow the vehicle and would be reflected under the new owner.
