I have both the previous version prior to the foil and today got he replacement one with it. The replacement was due to the tabs being super fragile and a little too long on it which caused them to break during install. It still fit fine, I just wasn't about to put up with a 1800 piece that wasn't functioning as designed. I will take pics of the previous one to show the way the mesh is held in place. I believe it was hot glued with a TON of glue. That mesh is very solid FYI.
I have the diffuser off right now so it's easy to compare the differences side by side.

no overheating with the old one. I don't think the heat shield would cause it to overheat due to the vents.

The new design is really nice and was more done so to let the heat out to prevent the discoloring of the diffuser. With either Vorsteiner diffuser there was no overheating. We had the original diffuser on our 991 Carrera S and had no overheating issues ever. We very much like the new design!

What is Vorsteiner's solution for draining the oil? Is that left up to the owner?

We have a solution which worked. We had to make something out of a plastic bin which allowed us to drain the oil without removing the entire diffuser. Can help you with this if interested.

Please let me know what your solution was as well. I don't understand why vorsteiner doesn't just predrill a hole.

I'm interested in hearing more about your solution for draining the oil without removing the diffuser or drilling a hole for the drain plug.

Thanks
