Default Ceramic Pro Cost

I got a quote from my local detailer for installing ceramic pro on my new gt silver 991.2. He is quoting $1,000 for the 5 year and $1,400 for the lifetime. It is including taking the rims off and putting a coat on the wheels and calipers and coating the glass. I don't think it needs any paint correction or prep other than a good cleaning.

Is this a competitive price? I'm in coastal NC.

The guy who did my cars told me recently that OptiCoat was now requiring detailers using their stuff to price the OptiCoat Pro Plus (lifetime product) at $1,100. Said there was a price increase due to some additional step they do to protect it while it cures and that they were not supposed to discount it. Might be BS, who knows.

Prior to that, my last car cost $800 for the Pro Plus.

One of the most reputable places in SoCal. $1300 and $1500 respectively and $550 extra for wheels. So that's a good price if their work is good.

How does this stuff work? Is it like a clear coat?

For a high quality job, those are competitive prices. And yes, you car WILL require paint correction to be of a high quality end product. I have my car done every other year.

That is way high for OptiCoat Pro Plus if that's just for prep and coating with no paint correction.

Every other year? Whats the point of this stuff? Curious.

Hmm. Totally depends on the correction part. I've never bought a car from any manufacturer that didn't need paint correction. My guy charges $1200 for correction/Optipro+ w/o the wheels. I guess it could be lower or higher if the correction needs were unusual (good or bad).

I like my car to be as perfect (swirl free) as possible.
I don't want to do it myself. I coat my own wheels and calipers, though.
After washing, all I ever do now is use a quick detailer spray (Kenotek or Adams).
Car looks great, I can go 4-8 weeks without washing.

From my POV, the coating obviates the need for waxing. I normal wash either with soap/water or a dry wash like Griots gets a high shine result like a wash/wax would. It makes cleaning the car far easier, faster (and for me) more fun.

While I think doing it every two years would be awesome and have the car looking super, I don't think that's necessary. The coating is still performing like new on my Tesla after two years.

Note: The coating provides no protection from dings and scrapes. It's just cosmetic really.

My car is at my detailer having paint correction and ceramic coating right now. My detailer told me that there is no need to wax the car at all when this coating is applied. It won't last forever, but it will last much longer than wax. He recommends reapplying the coating every couple of years, depending on individual use and wear.

Agree with all of this.

Big difference between the gloss coat (2 year life) and the Pro Plus. I've done both. The cheaper needs to be redone every 18-24 months. It deteriorates pretty rapidly after about 12 months. I've had the Pro Plus on my car for about 20 months and it hasn't deteriorated at all. Still repels like the day it went on.

I really enjoy washing (min once/week) and waxing so I don't think this stuff is for me.

Do you enjoy claying and polishing your car? Use this stuff and you can wash your car in half the time and eliminate the need to ever clay, polish or wax. Plus, you're unlikely to get contaminant spots in your paint that require paint correction to remove. After having done a coating on my cars, I would never not do it on a new car I bought. Makes car maintenance so much easier and the car stays looking good much longer. This is one of the few car products that is worth every penny of its exorbitant price.
