Preventative Protection Options for Your 991: Clear Bra, Modesta and Tint
This post is made to provide information about preventative protection options for metro-Atlanta and southeastern automobile owners but it really applies to anyone as these services are offered by many across North America. I want to take a moment to explain how these coverage options differ with the hopes that it helps someone make an informed decision as to what coverage they feel like would work best for their new car.
Clear Bra / Paint Protection Film Protection
For those that are not aware of paint protection film (AKA Clear Bra): It is a clear urethane film that can be installed on newer cars to protect them from rock chips, swirl marks, many forms of vandalism, bird bomb or bug mark etching and more. For the sake of you being able to see the coverage I am speaking about, I have used an image of a 991.2 with a green overlay to illustrate how the different forms of coverage lay over the car. Paint protection film is virtually impossible to see with a good installation.
Front kit coverage would be a minimalist approach to protection by protecting the front end but still leaves the damage-prone upper portion of the hood and fenders exposed. For most folks, this coverage does not quite hit the mark as the line across the hood and fenders is unsightly and does not sufficiently protect the hood and fenders. With that said, I am leaving the graphic for this out of the discussion as it's very rare for us to install a partial front kit.
Full full end clear bra protection:
For many people, the full front end clear bra wrap is seen as a true minimum for good protection. Upgrading the coverage to include the full hood and full front fenders is going to offer the full front of the car’s lowers jamb up protection while also not showing off any lines across the hood or fenders.
Performance package clear bra wrap:
This is by far our most popular clear bra wrap package. The performance package adds the A-pillars, leading edge of the roof, rocker panels, lower portions of the doors and strips behind the rear wheels to the full front end clear bra wrap. The performance package also gets an incredibly thick, 20 mil clear film layered over the clear bra in the most exposed areas around the wheel arches. This combines to give our clients a 28 mil thick film protection. Because these 20 mil thick film strips are layered over the clear bra, they can be easily removed and replaced when they get worn out. The performance package not only protects your car from rocks thrown from cars in front of you but it also protects the lower sides against your own car’s tires cannibalizing the paint.
Short of a full body clear bra wrap, the performance package offers the best wear and tear protection in a single package.
Full body clear bra wrap:
A full body clear bra wrap for your car is the ultimate in protection. Wrapping a new car with clear bra gives you the peace of mind of knowing most types of vandalism and non-major impacts will guard your original factory paint all over the body of the car. No more concern about creating swirl marks in the paint, bug mark or bird dropping damage, acid rain etching or other chemical damage (short of a catastrophic accident that would certainly eat through clear bra urethane) and of course, the car is well guarded from rock chips all over.
A full wrap is not inexpensive but for those that want the best, it’s a full body clear bra wrap or nothing.

With any coverage option, also coating the body of the car with a Modesta paint coating will give you more gloss, luster, chemical resistance and a surface that is easier to clean. Modesta can be used with clear bra or as a stand alone service. Modesta offers body coatings, wheel and caliper coatings as well as their unique 2-part Leather Protection System for leather and leather-like seats.
Modesta body coatings are a preventative coating service that allows your paint to look better with the modified refractive properties only Modesta pure glass coatings can offer along with superior protection when compared with a wax or sealant. A painted surface coated with Modesta will be easier to clean and look better for years to come.
A Modesta wheel coating service will result in wheels and calipers that are protected from burning brake dust that pits the finish. When coated with Modesta BC-06, wheels and calipers are also easy to clean.
Modesta's leather protection system is a 2-part system that features a base coat that gives chemical resistance and a top coat that is applied to the outer bolsters of seats. The top coat on the outer bolsters provide industry leading abrasion resistance.

For owners wanting the best possible protection against fraud, we install Blackvue dashcam systems. These camera systems can be either installed in a hardwired manner where it ties into a 12v power supply and all cables are hidden or it can be plug and play if one does not mind exposed cables or just wants to save some coin on a hardwire installation.
2-Channel Protection
With a 2-Channel Blackvue camera installation a driver has the peace of mind knowing that what is happening in front and behind the car is being recorded. With a small form factor, the rear camera can discreetly record while not being an eye sore.
Impact and Motion Detection
Built-in impact and motion detection enable your BlackVue to switch between 3 different recording modes (Normal/Event/Parking) automatically depending on the circumstances.
Videos files are marked accordingly so that you can easily find relevant ones with the BlackVue Viewer.

When coupled with the Power Magic Pro, a battery is safe from being drained and the system can enjoy what is called parking mode. With intelligent parking mode monitoring you can rest easy, knowing that your car is being monitored while you are away.
BlackVue automatically switches to Parking Mode to monitor your parked vehicle, but only writes to the memory card when something happens (motion or impact detected), which has two benefits:
·Less chance for important files to be overwritten during long Parking Mode sessions.
·Extended memory card lifespan in the long run.
Additionally, the DR650S Series features Voice Notifications in case of Parking Mode Event recordings.
