Default Front License Plate Solution

In Virginia, a front license plate is required. I hate drilling holes in the front bumper, and wonder if anybody has found another solution that doesn't interfere with the front sensors? If you have, could you also post a pic? Thanks kindly.

Thank you for posting that website. I see it illustrated on a 911, but it appears that it has no front sensors.

Are you using it? Does it work with the front sensors enabled?

Never mind - I just saw the extender bracket. That'll work!

I went ahead and had the plate bracket installed. I've been pulled over in the past in VA with no front plate; not worth the hassle to me. My previous 991S had it and I got used to it. In a perfect world, I would have no front plate but alas...my world is not perfect hahaha.

I didn't mind the dealer putting holes in the bumper for it - the plate will always be on it as long as I own it...

I've seen other mounts that use the tow-hook area but then you wind up with an offset plate which looks kind of strange to me.

Same in NJ.

I have mine mounted under the carpet in the passenger side.

Yeah, it does look strange. I read that a bill was proposed to eliminate the front plate but it was defeated. They said they needed it for those plate readers they have mounted on the patrol cars. Anyway, I am trying to find photos of what a plate looks like mounted up there. On my Bimmer, I don't care, but this is really bothering me for the 911.

So...
If they can read my EZ-Pass going through a toll booth at 60 mph, why can't they just allow a transponder to do the same thing? I would pay extra to have a transponder if I didn't need to put that up there.

Lol. It's $60 a pop (I think) here for not having it mounted.

I had one of the rho plates on a BMW years ago. The thing drove me nuts because the plate was never level. I would tighten up and loctite the pieces but eventually something would always happen and i would end up driving with a tilted front plate. Never again for me.

I think same here, but six months in and nothing happened. I'll take my chances and pay the $60 if it comes.

I saw something that was motorized - it slid the plate out from an undercarriage mount. It was like a James Bond thing.

I posted a bunch of pictures in my thread with the Rho Plate. The first message links to other posts in the thread with pictures.

Is it ideal, no, but it works and I don't mind the look so much.

Lol - I was just looking at those photos - found them on a Google search. Thanks for your consideration. I also found another Rennlist post that had a 3M adhesive plate pictured. That looked interesting.

How is that red leather holding up? It's beautiful in the photos.

That's pretty funny. The leather is holding up great, no problems so far. I have just short of 9000 miles in slightly under 7 months. I hadn't seen the 3M adhesive plate. So far the Rho plate has help up well, doesn't seem to have shifted (though I was initially worried about that).
